So now I guess you think MM will handle the bullpen correctly if they get to the playoffs. Just kidding don't get your dandruff upI think they just need to get there. If it's riding the arm of a guy you can't use, so be it. Just get in.

Lol. That dude couldn't be trusted with our HS bullpen. Somebody (maybe you???) brought up his lack of trust with Lyons. Seems strange. So now I guess you think MM will handle the bullpen correctly if they get to the playoffs. Just kidding don't get your dandruff up
The only potential problem could be the wear and tear on his scapula without the structured routine of a starter. It's tough man when talking about bullpen management.... Another one that I thought had the potential to be a solid closer was Seigrist. I thought he was completely mismanaged. He was a stud for a while and then...
I am all for Wacha heading to the 9th role!! A confident Wacha is a fantastic Wacha. As someone referenced earlier that he is flat nasty the first inning, let him go out and get that confidence going and throw darts all over the lower half of the plate and then freeze people with the change up. He hasn't been a bad starter at all but he has the makings of being a closer. It sure makes sense to me but they don't have me on the payroll!! Last night was a tough loss, lets hope we get a big W tonight against the team that seems to have our number this year..
He also fell victim to the strike zone of a few umpires. He needs the famous 'Maddux/Glavine strike zone' to be affective. When he has to throw it over the plate it's usually a rough night. He's a bit of a product of really bad IF defensive range and his sinker being up the last month or so. Make no mistake though, he wasn't good the last month. IDK so much if I didn't want him gone. I understood the move. Just wish with Rosenthal done, they'd have kept him and concentrated on moving him in the offseason. That way Wacha could've been closing.
Whole heaping lotta truth to that statement. He can live on the black and manage it. When he gets squeezed, oof. Pee rods a plenty. He also fell victim to the strike zone of a few umpires. One could argue that blatant cheating helped Maddux as much or more than PEDs did for a bunch of other guys. I don't think "cheating" is too harsh a term because umpires aren't stupid, they knew exactly what they were doing and it continued for several years even as it was pointed out repeatedly by everyone watching. I was a Maddux fan but he's likely not in the hall of fame if he had to throw the ball over the plate to get called strikes. He also fell victim to the strike zone of a few umpires. But sure, everything is due to the zone. Has nothing to do with their ability to repeat pitches, over and over and over and over. They were the only ones getting calls. I bet the cardinals got screwed all the time......oh wait, Matt Morris has a higher called strike percentage
Hehe. Get off my lawn while you're at it!How old are you? Stop it. We saw it with our own eyes. The Braves were on TBS every day. Just like I see how far Grich misses the slider. I dont need fan graphs or anyone else to tell me shat. If oldballer and me agree you know its true.
And Glavine got much of the same from the men in blue. Below the knees and 4 to 6 off the plate is where he made his living. Smoltz was the real deal, he didn't need much help. One could argue that blatant cheating helped Maddux as much or more than PEDs did for a bunch of other guys. Maddux couldn't do it today with the strike zone
Yet I'm watching Maddux pitch right now. Has a shutout going.
Let's just agree to disagree and let me apologize to all of you.....
For having a manager bring in a lefty to face R-S-R, late in winnable game. I'm embarrassed for him
I can't figure why Yadi called for an 0-2 fastball, that ended up right down the middle, to Russell when he had looked at a curve then swung at something a foot off the plate on the first two pitches. Didn't make any difference in the outcome but very questionable anyway. I'm sure Russell appreciated it after not hitting in a major league game for over a month.Let's just agree to disagree and let me apologize to all of you.....

Wacha almost made it 6 innings and only had five walks after his one long stint of the second half which prompted 3R to award him the Cy Young. Redbird fans can pack Ballpark Village to watch the Cubs in the playoffs for years to come.
I am sad that the Birds won't be going to the playoffs, but in the long run it should help DeWitt and MO realize this roster is not a playoff roster and some major changes are needed.
I was hoping they would beta the Cubs to today just to help the Brewers.I am sad that the Birds won't be going to the playoffs, but in the long run it should help DeWitt and MO realize this roster is not a playoff roster and some major changes are needed.

I don't understand why MM wouldn't pinch hit for Carp in the 8th with the base loaded. While he has been extremely good in his career with the bases loaded he is hitting .178 against lefties this season and had already struck out 4 times in the game. You certainly didn't need to keep him in the game for defense in the 9th.
Oh, of course their numbers are thin. It is an expensive sport that gets more expensive by the year. You need the talent(first and foremost) and the ability to see the$$$$$ down the road at the expense of right now.
However, any time a discussion about MM and his locker room comes up.....the topic of his boys always comes up. And it always revolves around the white, Christian players. Is that intentional? Who knows....
