Jefferson City football

JC is definitely a Class 5 school with an enrollment of 961, as posted on the MSHSAA web site. This number is well above the 906 cut off number for Class 4. Someone made a huge mistake. I don't think JC has to forfiet any games. The wrong number doesn't effect the in season play.I believe they should not be in post season play because the are a Class 5 school playing in the Class 4 bracket. They should not be allowed to play Friday against MacCo, that is a pretty simple fix and be less embarrassing than crowning a Class4 State Champion with a Class 5 enrollment number. Also MSHSAA should send a formal letter of apoligy to all the schools effected by this mistake.
You shouldn't say it's a mistake if you don't officially know if Jeff City manipulated numbers or has an enrollment issue. I'm sure MSHSAA would not allow JC to cheat .

On their MSHSAA Schedule page it shows a Forfeit Loss to Hannibal week 2. Wasn't this over playing a kid not included in their student list? A student from the Alternative School. I think this is all the same issue. Didn't originally count Alt. School kids, then played them, then added them, and stayed Class 4. What do I have wrong there?

Look at their raw enrollment. If not for the success factor they would be Class 3. I know this was discussed before, but I still don't believe what MSHSAA does is correct.

I did. If you divide the classes before the success factor they are class 4. When the success factor was applied they moved to class 5 classes 2 thru 4 where then readjusted and balanced back out it changed the enrollment numbers for each class. Private schools don’t get bumped back down just because the numbers were adjusted due to the success factor.

If you look at the enrollments before the success factor is applied you will be Helias would be class 4.

The rumblings that I have heard, don't know if true or not, is that Cap City included JCAC enrollment to their overall enrollment. JC did not. I heard there are roughly 140 students at JCAC. 60 of which count to CC and 80 count to JC. Again, I don't know if this is factual, but I think it is a pretty reliable source.
That's what I heard as well.

Is it possible that the alt school kids weren’t allowed to participate in the remainder of the fall seasons but the enrollment was adjusted for the winter and spring?

Isn't district a play off game? If you lose you go home..

I don't even care that much. You win.

I still don't think that would make it correct. You don't get to pick and choose which kids count towards your enrollment.
I agree. Shouldn’t matter if it was an over site or not, they should have been removed from post season play. University Academy made a mistake and no exception was made for them.

Like I said, I know this was discussed before, but I don't agree with how MSHSAA does this. If there was no success factor applied to them, they would be Class 3. I understand how it works, just stating I don't agree with it.

The break down I have shows they would have been the 3rd smallest class 4 school.

especially if one school counts them (and are class5) and the other doesn't (and are class 4)
Funniest thing is, CC was the smallest Class 5 and JC was the largest Class 4. If the rumors were true, MSHSAA could've flipped the 2 schools and kept all districts the same.

I should've said, if the success factor wasn't applied to them they would've been Class 3. Osage was the smallest Class 4 school.

Right, but schools don’t get bumped down after the success factor is applied. That would defeat the whole purpose.

Personally I don’t think private schools should bump down at all. They should remain in the class they were assigned to before the success factor is applied and the classes are adjusted. For example Westminster should have remained class 4 and Osage bumped down.

Cap City also has an adjust enrollment, but they were class 5 anyhow so not as big of a deal.

Jefferson city either:
1. purposely turned in a false enrollment to MSHSAA, with the intent of being placed in C4
OR
2. the administration at JC that is responsible for turning in their enrollment to MSHSAA did not understand the very clear instructions of the process. MSHSAA handbook By-Law 5.1 (specifically 5.1.6 No Alterations of Official Enrollment)

Ignorantia juris non excusat // Ignorance is not an excuse

Who turns in the enrollment numbers?

Regardless of a mistake or not.....would you not say that it is still wrong? Would you say they still deserve to play in class 4 playoffs? We can make excuses left and right also up and down. At the end of the day they are a class 5 school playing in the class 4 playoffs. This shows
negligence on Jeff City and MSHSAA.

The original cutoff for C3 was 511, then the success factor was done which shifts schools. I know, it is confusing, but you can find the original numbers on the bottom of the front page of mshsaa.org.

Would it not be simple to take the numbers from Dese each Spring and place them in districts?
WARNING: Common sense has no place on this forum.
Every military leadership class I attended stressed one thing over all others:
KISS-Keep It Simple Stupid.
MSHSAA should adopt that concept except how would they justify some of those salaries if they didn't have some of their inexplicable, duplicative processes. We used to call those "make work" jobs.

All organizations and institutions should strive to be as efficient and as free of waste and corruption as the U.S. military
