What do you call a system in which 41 Republican Senators, representing just 21% of the population, can stop voting rights legislation backed by 70% of Americans? How about “broken”?

The filibuster is no where to be found in the constitution, which some of us claim is so damn important. It’s just a random rule someone invented to get their way a century ago.

Nope,,,,it's a system put in place so that neither political party can ram through legislation without broad support from a majority of our Senators. Can you imagine a situation where today 51 dem senators could pass Biden's new "Deal",,,then just a year from now 51 republican senators could do away with it???

The system was put in place to make sure that a small grouping of concentrated population couldn't control the narrative across the vast land mass of the U.S... and big decisions where debated and compromise could happen thus preserving the UNION.

Weird that about 4 years ago the Current Vice-President and 27 current Dem's senators signed a letter insisting that the Filibuster not be broken. Oh but at that time the Rep's held the House, Senate and Presidency ......gosh the hypocrisy is thick.

And don't the Rep. Senators represent 43% of the voting Population? I mean gross population isn't the measuring stick of a Republic and it's Representation.

So where is it found in the constitution? I've heard you guys say many times "elections have consequences."
What I hate more ANYTHING in the house and senate is that ONE person can decide if a bill gets a vote. THAT is the dumbest thing they have up there.

Government FOR the people and BY the people is blocked by some huckleberries in Idaho, the Dakotas, Montana and Wyoming having way too much power. It is broken.

Jts not a government FOR the land mass and BY the land mass. That’s freakin stupid. The framers did not foresee the population of California having 2 senators while the five states listed above have 10. If you claim otherwise you are full of ship.

So you are saying that you think it is okay for California, New York and Illinois to make the laws for the entire country. Those states are all dumpster fires.
No they aren’t. All those states are filled with Americans. Just like Montana and Wyoming are 1/20th filled with Americans.

Of course they did. That's why the house representation is by population.

it is a perfectly engineered system that puts checks and balances on radical agendas from the left or the right

He doesn't get that.....at all. He thinks that we have a democracy and not a republic. That is why the Senate is static with 100 senators and each state having two. It's like basic gov. civ. The house as you stated is based on population.....the Senate is not. It is clear the Founding Fathers where very very cognizant of the fact that Rural states would not be bound long for the Union if Small regions with Huge populations had more control and say.

I mean look at his disrespect for the Rural area's calling them Huckleberries and clearly he just ignores the broken gov. in states controlled by democrats for decades.

I mean if those Urban area's want to go it alone as a another country why the heck not. At this point it might well be best for the Blue voters in red states to move to California, NY .....and red voters in blue states can move to Red states.

This Poll might explain why the Framers didn't want a few geo political area's controlling the whole country......

The Union is on the verge of a Fracture and of course I'm sure the Left's answer will be to USE force and Terror to maintain their strangle hold on the Huckleberries and Rural Rubes....that they hate but need to do their peasant and serf work.

This might help you realize that Some Democratic controlled area's and their policies are horrible.

A perfectly engineered system. Bahahahahaha

Yep. It doesn’t need to be be altered. It’s efficient and just perfect. Unlike every other system in the history of the world, be it mechanical, governmental, business or economic it is sheer perfection.

Yep, it was the left and all of their leaders in DC on the 6th trying to maintain their stranglehold on the Huckleberries and Rural Rubes.

If it wasn't for the human factor yeah it's pretty near perfect. The human factor usually is a issue in anything.

No way to justify that the party in power in the states can gerrymander districts to help them win more. Both parties have done it but the pubs in Texas are taking it to the extreme now. Why not just divide the state into sections like HS sports, make 4, 6. 8 or whatever you want just make them all as square as possible no matter who lives in the district. Everybody still gets to vote they just aren't rigged to give one party a huge majority by drawing crazy lines for the districts.

Or do like MO and vote for a bipartisan commission but have the GOP house and senate overturn the will of the voters.

Sad state of affairs in MO
