I guess SWMO needs to move on to the Basketball Forum?

Idk, just feels like in every L: Joplin, Webb, Carthage, Mt Vernon, Lamar the SWMO teams were just so slow. Always physical and always dicipline but Jesus Christ you cant make up for having all those 4.8 guys at your skill positions. Just not any offensive stars in that area except Westmoreland.

It was a rough day here in swmo for sure . I went to the Webb game ....it could have went either way. Some key injuries really limited Webb offensively but they lost to a very solid team. I suspect Webb will be back next year . I sat on the Ladue side and their fans and players were very classy. Hats off to them.

Can’t win them all. WC game could have gone either way until the last minute. Giving up a Short field after the 4Q fumble with the lead hurt. Let STL have their day in the sun. Ladue played a good game, but by no means did they dominate WC. Would have liked to have had a healthy backfield, but injuries are just part of the game. From a SWMO perspective it sounded like MV and Carthage had rough games from the start. Hadn’t heard any details about the Lamar game yet other than the 7pt loss. STL area has assembled some good teams, but I wouldn’t count out this corner of the state just yet in the future.

Shouldn't you have moved on to the b-ball forum weeks ago by that logic?

Bahah...still have Rock, Fort, and Lathrop...hell even. Mound City in it from my area. Bahaha

You’re like the Drake of Missouri High School Football fans. By that I mean, you’re a fan of whoever’s winning when they’re winning and not so much when they’re losing.

Benedict Arnold... ahaha

I’m only speaking about WC but WC’s fastest player played only a few plays before leaving the game. The difference in the WC game was not lack of speed in the skill positions but the d-line of Ladue dominated the game in the second half. Heck WCs #3 RB outran the defense to the end zone when he had a hole to run through.

Fear not though a lot of those slow WC skill players are underclassmen and will be back next year.

Totally agree Frog, regardless of injuries, Webb was going to struggle against that defensive line. I also felt Ladues coach had a better passing game then running. But he used it very little. Hell, everytime they found themselves 1-10 with 35-40 to go, Id a of thrown to the endzone for #7 at least one shot in 4 downs. But I also could not believe Rod refused the throw the ball in the 3rd qtr and first 6 minutes of forth.
Either way, I felt the best team won. We were very fortunate to even be playing this weekend. Hats off to a good Webb team for making it to the semi finals this year and hats off to a very talented Ladue team.

The Kansas City area is still very much in it.
Wonder how you will feel after the superior athletes from St. Louis lead their teams to a sweep of the Class 3-6 state championships. I thought the KC teams were superior based on your prior posts.

That’s hilarious yes CBC is the number one team but numbers 2,3,4,6,7 8, 12 and 14 are all from Kansas City

Now your saying st louis is superior? On any given year any team could have a far above average group of kids. To be superior, as your saying....I would think you would have to base your position on overall average success over a period of years, not one year. Im actually glad to see St Louis area do well, we need to stop assuming those games are a win. Years like this do happen once every so often, like a hundred year storm. But you never know for sure when the 100 yr storm is gonna hit. Regardless, I believe superior programs are based on average success over a period of years. I dont know how WC, for example would rate over a hundred year period. But I know since the first State Championship, they have a 50-50 chance of winning State and a 60-70% chance in getting there. i believe their chance to get to the semi- finals has got to be in the area of 90% or better (30 yr period). That sir, is superior! I assume any past comments from a KC poster about superiority must have been based over a fairly lengthy period of time. Just remember, we actually have to play the game to crown the champion, otherwise we’d simply let the computer tell us, and Ladue would have lost a well deserved win today.
I enjoy following Webb, but right behind that, I love seeing a school no one knows, take it all the way. i do wish it happened more often. (Except of course, in class 4). ;)

Settle down. I'm just trolling Joey after he trolled us SWMO fans.

Well I know Joey is just out fishing with this post, but what the hell..... Webb lost to a really good Ladue team and it's just to bad that Weathers couldn't play and Henderson wasn't 100% or we could easily be talking about them winning another state title. As far as the basketball forum talk goes I actually think Joplin and Webb are going to have two really solid teams so moving to the basketball forum for SWMO is a real possibility.

WC run is coming to a close. Class 4 has always been a weird STL Class. Many schools too big or too small. Now its a healthy amount in Class 4 and we have the results. The Coaching and Schemes have finally caught up to the St Louis talent and it should be slaughters like this weekend forevermore.

I don’t follow high school basketball, so no reason for me to go there; I DO however follow high school football (and that has one more weekend left...)

...besides, my preseason pick in Class 3 is still alive! (Even though I’ll be rooting for Ritter and Lathrop because of all the people who think the “REAL” Class 3 and 2 championships were held today :D)

WC started 8-9 underclassmen on defense and looks to have 2-3 pretty impressive classes coming up. BOne close loss to a very good Ladue team and now WC is done with their run? Seriously? Plus a game that WC lead most of the game and lost by 4 is now a slaughter?

Props to Ladue they earned it but WC didn’t go quietly. Ladue had to scrape and claw to win. That was a state championship caliber game.

Your on drugs! I remember posts in the "WEBB vs Ladue who you got" about Ladue returning so many from last year. Uhm WEBB I believe returns 12 starters and one of the best backs whom was just a sophomore. WEBBs run is far from over.

I'll believe it when I see it. As long as Roderique is at the helm in Webb I like their chances against anyone. They ran into one hell of a Ladue team. The kind of team that comes long once in a very long while. If STL class 4 can have those generation defining teams every year I'll be surprised to say the least.

Thats the thing, Webb can have TONS of returning starters but thats not the problem. The talent gap has closed. Carthage and Joplin will probably both be better than Webb next year.
Webb will go years without seeing a STL team in the playoffs only MICDS in 2011 then Ladue last year. Traditional powers like Hazelwood East, Raytown South (KC) etc and many more are in that class now. Kansas City and St Louis schools have never been in Class 4 and Webb has run free. Thanks to MSHSAA for the reclassification to assure all that ends now.

What are you blathering about?

I'm a St. Louis guy, and even I hate the East side invasion.

Ok. Now it is apparent you are just trolling. Unless they moved Ladue was in St Louis last year. Raytown South has never made it past Kearney or Harrisonville to play WC.

I’ll take the bait out of my mouth now. Good cast.

Been saying all year its not that STL overall has gotten better but that talent is flocking to select teams. You go past 2-3 deep in Stl area in each class and there are alot of bad teams

The overall recruiting has stepped up in certain programs. It started with that senior class as freshman’s with Trinity. Until something is done? This is the organized progress that’s going to come, and it’s not going to stop anytime soon.

Once I saw what/who was coming back had a strong feeling Ladue would be a major contender this year. Goes to show how persistence and hard work pays off. And having huge, athletic D linemen doesn't hurt, either.

And having 1300 kids just might help.....
