Did Class 1 POTY transfer to Kickapoo? Did Parkview standout also transfer to Kickapoo?
If Christian Kirk isn't eligible then neither is Parkview kid.

Dont know the situation with the potential Parkview transfer at all, but thinking it would be hard to compare to Kirk.. He moved twice and was clearly about athletics.

I'm so sick of this happening with Kickapoo. It's always Kickapoo. Never Glendale!!!!

Well, looks like I'll be skipping yet another Glendale-Kickapoo game. The outcome is already very, very clear. Not even worth playing.

Some guy called in to Sports Talk and said the triplets are moving to Kickapoo as well.

I'm not going to be attending any high school basketball games this up coming season. This just ruins everything for me.

The triplets are not moving to sgf. Their dad needs a job and that's where they will play. Recent possibilities: cabool, grove, laquey, viola ark

So I guess I missed this part? Did his family move to the Kickapoo district? Because in the article I read it sounded like the players' comments were that the transfer was specifically athletically motivated. I think he said something about attending Missouri State, his AAU team and stuff. I would assume that his coach not coming back also played into it as well.

Two questions about that last part. What happened at Dora with his job after winning the state championship this year, and have they hired his replacement yet?

The Dora coach was voted out as principal even before the Final Four. He is not tenured as a teacher at Dora. Haney lives in West Plains.

Obviously this was a move due to athletics, but I mean, so are a thousand other moves. If you're a part of a family that has the means to move, or "rent" a house/apartment in another district long enough to have a new address in the district — it's basically a free for all.

But as far as I'm concerned, the whole thing needs to be flushed down the toilet. At this point we need a standard that applies to everyone equally.

Either everyone plays, or everyone sits. No exceptions.

If the entire family moves to the Kickapoo district then he should be able to play. I know in the past parents allegedly get divorced and one parent rent an apartment or house in Kickapoo school district. Then miraculously the parents reconcile once the school year is over.

The system is broken, but as usual with America today, no one has the balls, will power, or money to fix it.

If a family moves for athletic reasons (not because of a new job or what have you), the kid should be forced to sit out of varsity competition for 365 days. Period!

I 100% disagree. If a family moves due to academics, we call them "great parents". If my kid goes to a school without band and I move, I would get praised for "giving my kid an opportunity". It is no different in sports.

If you have a child that wants to be good at sports, you are going to try and put them in the best situation for development. If we are being honest, there are some athletic programs (and even moreso, districts/boards) that do not care about sports, or certain sports. If my child was in one of those situations, I would move in a heartbeat.

I know nothing of the Haney situation, but if the family is willing to move to Kickapoo district, he should be eligible. In fact, I think all kids should be able to transfer one time in Missouri and be eligible. The lack of clarity on some of these rules make no sense.

It's irresponsible (and selfish) to allow kids to think you can just pick up your ball and go home if you don't like something. Let's see how that works for them in the real world once they get a job coming out of college! Now, Dora is a special situation since the coach was basically fired by that school board, which forced the players to consider their options, but I'm still concerned about the AAU role in the story. Look, this is a Springfield deal with all the past history of players "moving in" to the Kickapoo attendance area. I doubt it would be that big of a deal without all the past issues dating back to the late-90's. It only happens at one school here and A LOT of people are sick of it. Let's not forget the Parkview "transfer" as well. I thought the Kickapoo attendance area was closed to transfers, because the school was full.

I got question didn’t Drew Richards mom teach at Glendale? You guys had Lucas Harrell and he left to go to Ozark.....don’t you think maybe there something wrong with the atmosphere at Glendale.....you guys get good players from good families and they leave for one reason or another

Adults change jobs, take promotions, move to places all of the time.
Coaches leave, get fired, take promotions all of the time.

That is the real world. Sports (and transfers) prepare kids for that.

Again, people do what they can to improve themselves all of the time. They take promotions, more job responsibilities, move to a new area, get new degrees, surround themselves with different people...this is in the business world and encouraged.

If my child was trying to get a 36 on the ACT and needed the best math teacher in the area to help them, and I transferred them, I would be seen as a tremendous parent.

For some reason we treat sports much differently.

If I don't like my job in the real world, I can find a new one. The more marketable I am, the better my opportunities. That's the real world.

"atmosphere"? There's bad behavior at every school in the country.

Harrell (didn't he start out at Kickapoo?) transferred from Glendale to Ozark because more of his church buddies went to Ozark (I'm guessing it was James River). Also, I'm sure some felt he had a better shot at being apart of a post-season run at Ozark than Glendale (for whatever reason). But that's baseball, not the AAU basketball issue that we've been dealing with for the last twenty years when it comes to Kickapoo and a few other schools in the metro area. I can't see Mark Stratton creating a bad atmosphere on the baseball side.

I don't know anything about the Drew Richards deal, Yes, his mother taught at Glendale, but I think they lived closer to Rog than Glendale out east of Springfield. Also, his Dad went to Hillcrest (even though his family moved from the Hillcrest attendance area to Glendale before his senior year in '67-'68). He did have a brother play for Glendale, though. I know some people liked Hesser and others certainly didn't.

Ozark all-stater Christian Gideon's mother also taught at Glendale, yet he attended Ozark. Once again, I don't know for sure what might've happened or if it was always a given he'd attend Ozark instead of Glendale due to where the family lived. I will say that....um...maybe certain people involved didn't have a high opinion of the Glendale coaching situation at the time.

Trey Starks had all sorts of problems at Glendale and needed a fresh start. Of course had I known it would allow Hillcrest to win a second state title, I would've put up more of a fight to stop it. I must confess that an email I sent to then Glendale head coach Sean Williamson about a facebook comment made by Starts attacking Glendale may have gotten that whole thing started. So, put that one on me. (Hillcrest needs to send me a mini-state title in return!!!!!)

As I've been told, Thomas Whittaker (to Hillcrest) and Cameron Maes' brother (to Catholic) were due to the parents having problems with the coaching staff.

I'm sure many schools lose players. I don't think it's particular to Glendale.

My problem is we don't get any of these difference making move-ins like many other area schools do. I'd like for it to work in Glendale's favor at least once before I kick the bucket.

So what you are saying is that you are fine if players move as long as they move to Glendale?

As long as the move works out in your favor then it is okay but not if they move to Kickapoo or any other opponent that Glendale may see on the court.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe is because Glendale hasn’t been relevant for several years

Has nothing to do with the last twenty-years+ of certain schools getting the players and others nothing.

And, I'll give you 2018-19, because we lost 90% of everything from the year before. However, we ended up having a good season this past year.

Being relevant to me is not just having a winning season. Being relevant is state titles, final 4 appearances and playoff appearances. How long has it been since Glendale has done that?

Wonder if the Grove situation would be possible. I am sure the Mtn Grove people would be licking their chops at the thought of it. Now that it looks like MSHSAA is possibly moving to shorten the basketball season, maybe Viola, AR is more of a possibility. Don't know if that vote was to lessen the amount of games played or just the amount of time that you have to play your games, but if it does reduce the number, playing 35-40 games in Arkansas may be a better opportunity than 20-25 in Missouri.

It is not reducing the amount of games played. Just shortening the length of the time to get those games in.

My point exactly they stand a better chance winning if they go to Rogersville Ozark nixa and etc. If you play in Springfield unless you have some extra special talent your chasing Kickapoo every year and I’m not dogging Glendale cause you guys have had some players over they years that have been a joy to watch

Well, when was the last time we had the talent to do that? That's the question you should be asking. I think we do about as well as we can given our talent level. I mean until Aaron Ledgerwood showed up we hadn't had a varsity post player since 1986 and we've still won about 70% of our games over that time. I don't think you can win big at the Class 5/4A level without legit post play. Troy-Buchanan did make the Class 5 title game in 2011 without a player taller than 6'3" but that rarely ever happens. We had a great shot at winning Class 4 in 2015, if we could've kept the 2012 frosh team together with Johal and Walton as freshmen, but players quit, transferred, left town, etc. The want-to, desire, passion, goals are where they need to be, we just haven't gotten the job done for various reasons.

Maybe if people STAYED and didn't quit, we'd be able to climb to the mountain top. It's a little hard to do it when the players aren't there!!!!!!!!
