Class 5, No. 4 Staley(Kansas City) 11-1 in 2009
Competing in Class 5 for the first time the Staley Falcons
in their third season under veteran head coach Fred Bouchard(151-55) earn a top
pre-season ranking.
Following the first graduating class in school
history the Falcons return six offensive starters and five on defense.
An experience backfield will see the return of senior
Evan Campbell(5-9 185), who rushed for 1600 yards, junior
Morgan Steward(6-0 195), and senior quarterback Michael Rich(6-0
195). Rich passed for 1,800 yards and 20 touchdowns in 2009.
Newcomers A.G. Squires(5-11 170, Jr) and Chris Witcig must fill the void
of the graduates at wide receiver positions. Senior Derek
Skiles(6-2 245) and senior Taylor Lein(6-0
225) return on the offensive line.
Senior
Videl Nelson(6-1 200) returns at linebacker where he
compiled 82 tackles a season ago along with Nathan Moody.
The defensive line is anchored by senior Austin Hooton(6-0
215) who will become a three year starter this fall and will be joined
by Kaleb Sweet(6-0 215), David Marcinko(6-0 215) and Zack Blakemore.
Senior Jackson Long(5-11 185) returns and as the leader
of a a defensive secondary that has some new talent in the form of
Nathan Gorman, Vinny Delisio and Earon Pierce.
A battle with Kearney for league bragging rights will
lead to district play and new foes Park Hill, St. Joseph Central, and
Oak Park.
