Saw on another board how Desmet was going to run the option just wondering how many if any class 6 schools do it and if it has been successful in the last 20ish years

Yes, whenever Ozark was in Class 6. I do not know if any do right now though.

Anyone running any type of zone read, power read, speed option, etc., etc., as well as RPOs is playing option football, and I guarantee class 6 schools are doing all of those things and more.

I meant a true option team like the service academies not bits and pieces of it

Didn't Lutheran North run the Wing T?

I saw them handing off trap and bucksweep and counter XX a whole bunch but not any option. Maybe I missed something. So I wonder why the other board would think that DeSmet is going to run the option. Unless Coach Reed has done it in the past maybe. He has definitely run some spread stuff, though the run game still looks like it's all wing-T principles.

Might have something to do with that other board being filled with Neanderthals. 🤷‍♂️

PowerMizzou. Used to be a pretty good site, but their site owner got too political during the pandemic. I've got less than a month left on my subscription on another account (this one has been banned for almost a year there) and then I'm done with Rivals.

Yes. Think I've posted before, but last year he took a posters direct quote even in PM format and posted it on his Twitter account in a 'look what I have to deal with' way. It differed from his political views, not a inappropriate post type thing. Keep in mind there's a strict don't take anything from the premium forums outside the site rule.

I took his tweet to the Main Board for proper roasting and before I could check back in (~30 min) the thread was deleted. At that time there was zero moderation so for that thread to be deleted he had to take it to upper management at Rivals. He deleted his Twitter account that day due to the volume and nature of comments so mission accomplished in a way.

About a month later there was a thread posted on PM taken from the Arkansas pay site with rankings of all the Rivals pay sites user engagement. Apparently this information was revealed during a site managers Zoom meeting that day. This information wasn't intended to be made public. The PM site manager made a comment in that thread to that fact, but didn’t lock or delete it at that time. I found the information very interesting and took it to tMB, but made sure to paraphrase so I couldn't be accused of lifting it directly from PM (as far as anyone could tell I could have seen it on the Arky site). The next morning he and I had quite the exchange on direct message and after that Cards1968 was no more on Rivals pay sites. To this day he swears he didn't report me, but I'm buddy/buddy with a lot of former moderators and they have confirmed he was behind it.

The other online community I've joined and become a sort of content creator for that evolved from a core group of tMB's are all IP perma-banned from tMB now (justly deserved FYI) so my hand is forced in a way.

Gabe got banty AF. Dude was borderline Dbag before. He’s jumped over that line last 12 months or so.

You'll be back for the season though right?...

Over at PM?
Yep...I unfollowed him on Twitter just because everything was so political and ronabro'd. Got annoying. I always kinda thought he was borderline-ish dbag, but gave him some leash because he's a TMA contributor and McKernan and him seem tight. But about the time he turned uber political/ronabro, he disappeared from TMA too. And PM has/had some quality content, but man...at this point, just get back to sports. There's literally no reason not to.

So I'm no football guy by any stretch...but I think Ozark runs it a bit out of the flex. And Ozark is C6.

Why does nobody run it in C6? Idk...Might be a little like the flex in hoops. It can be quality, but it's somewhat one dimensional. I would sort of liken it to why nobody does it in the NFL. The speed and physicality of the LB's at the C6 level are equal to those in the offensive backfield. That's what always seems to come up in the NFL, that and not wanting to get your QB mauled by said LB or untouched DE.

I would also say some of the younger coaches now aren't familiar w it and haven't seen it. I am talking true split back veer, midline, wishbone stuff. Obv the read option, RPO things are all the rage now. Agree w above that it isn't "cool" and at class 5 and 6 teams can make up mistakes with having better athletes. Obv all these reasons can make it a good reason to run it nowadays., except for the cool factor. I guess you could say that winning is cool too.

No one needs your approval and you are a heart attack scooting around on a rascal... don't blame it on Cards @BoosterBosko
Oh Im sorry, when did the option in Class 6 suddenly become more important than the fate of a MoSports legend AND fellow Doc Guy!?

And for the record, I've lost PLENTY of weight to no longer be at risk of a heart attack. Also, I've NEVER HAD A HEART ATTACK BEFORE!!! Nice try, Clown!!

I have no idea who McKernan is or what TMA is. I’m lucky I can log into MoSports.
The Morning After = TMA..."Sports" morning drive show on KFNS

McKernan = Tim McKernan, TMA host and classmate of Gabe's at the MU J school and the SLU High.

I'm a TMA junkie. Podcast it daily. It's an acquired taste for most, but has its niche. It's Howard Stern meets the old Scott and Sid show basically. Just as much "pee pee" talk as hot sports takes.

Bosko I am also concerned about cards but I'm trying to keep the board alive and engaged at least until its time for the annual summer hiatus by bringing up good football discussions which is why people come here

Ah yes, the ole summer hiatus. I am looking forward to this year's. COVID wont hopefully impact as much as it did last year. The mrs. and I are gonna get back out!

This could be true in Missouri class 6 high school football...except that we might want to pump the breaks on that idea: De La Salle High School in Concord, California has been in split-backs running the option for quite some time against very good California competition, not to mention their nationwide opponents, with some pretty unbelievable success decade in and decade out.

We also might want to remember that it is run successfully at every level of the college game, albeit by fewer and fewer schools each year.

Now, we could get into the discussion of whether it works at those levels because of scheme or because of the fact that defensive coordinators rarely have to game plan against it (I think those are valid discussions), but I don't think it can be argued very effectively that it's because of superior players.

I get it in the NFL; of course it makes sense that you don't want to beat up your very expensive QB running the option play after play, but when people say it wouldn't work because of the athletes on defense they miss the fact that the option has worked, and worked well, when run as a complete offensive strategy to maximize an athletic QB (obviously it's not often been tried in a traditional option formation--wishbone, flexbone, split backs, etc.-- so all we have is conjecture one way or the other on that, but the argument most often is that the option as an offensive philosophy can't work, regardless of what formation it's in). However, Bill Walsh once ran the wishbone with replacement players in 1987 if you want to see a funny Youtube clip of it: the Walsh-bone.

Looks like you guys have had some good seasons, Do you have any thoughts on why it works for you or why more class 6 schools don't adopt it

I’d guess that the people who don’t like it don’t understand it in any way, shape, or form. What’s hilarious and flabbergasting to me is that I’ve actually talked to people who say that the flexbone is bad for recruitment of kids be perfectly fine if the QB (in the exact same formation) steps back two to three steps (in the pistol) and runs the exact same offense. It just reminds me that very few people truly understand our game in general, let alone the flexbone as an offense.
