Did some digging on State titles

Here is my confusion, B&W. In the last MSHSAA record book I have from 08-09 in some sports they have them separated per the split and in some sports they have Hazelwood and Hazelwood Central together. No wonder they stopped publishing the book.

Thanks Cards. I know that The Big 8 has had six teams win state championships. Lamar, Mt. Vernon, Aurora, Monett, Seneca, and Cassville all have won more than once. Only two teams have never won. How many conferences have never won a state title. I don't think that the SRVC has ever won. Lockwood and Jasper were in the Midwest Conference when they won. Has any of the SCA members ever won a title? How about the Mid Lakes? Was Marionville in the Mid Lakes Conference when they last won? Are there any other conferences made up of teams that have never won a State championship?

That was going to be my next dive. Perhaps later this week...

Didn't Nixa have a kicker go to Florida State a few years ago?
You mean the kid that was an incredible kicker and the coach got greedy and instead of letting him win the game he chose to run it against WC's defense and then gave JRod and Smitty a chance to beat him in overtime. That kid was awesome.

I'm sure I screwed this up! Remember, I used the current conference affiliation. I used Wikipedia for conferences since this site no longer has that information. As always, let me know where I messed up and I'll correct.

Sumner is still playing 11 man football in the PHL. They are Co-oping with Northwest Transportation & Law. They are just not participating in the 2016-17 MSHSAA playoff cycle.

Well technically Tri-County is presently 5. Perhaps you anticipated Warsaw leaving end of school year and taking their two titles with them.

Hardin-Central titles occurred while they were in the old Central River Conference.

How many has Webb won while in the COC, Versus the SWC.

Also how does Ozark have so many? Is that counting Parkwood's and Memorial's along with the ones Camdenton won before joining the Ozark conference?

I'm not 100% sure on the Joplin school's plus the ones Camdenton won previously.

I do know that Camdenton has won at least 1, maybe more since joining the OC.
Waynesville won Class 5 in '07.

I wondered the same thing about Webb... but he said he was only listing them by current conference. As far as the small COC. without digging, Rogersville has 1. So, that can soon be added to the Big 8.

Interesting how some schools grow, some shrink, & some stay the same size over time.

Rockport and Maryville played each till mid 90's. Now Rockport has shrunk to 8 man.

Schools like Platte County, Smithville, Grain Valley have gone from 2A programs to Class 4 maybe even Class 5 soon.
National demographics. Small, rural towns drying up while the large city suburbs are bustling. It has been four years plus since I drove in KC rush hour traffic. Just getting from KTown to KCK is much more difficult now than then. And I won't even go there about what 152 has become...........

Sissypants.

I noticed you did not include 8-man. The last time the 8-man Championship did not feature a team from the current GRC was 1992. And the last 7 Champions are currently in the GRC.
