Apparently, St. Louis administrators want to move all varsity football contests to 6pm starting next year.

They say “it’s for the kids” when we all know it’s so they get out a little earlier.

They’re going to get some kid killed in August doing that. Parents getting off work will struggle to be there at kickoff, not to mention officials.

I was once the honcho coach at a hs that had been perennial doormats. When we won the first district title in 30 years of football at the school, he actually said “for me, that’s just one more night I’ve got to be out.”

There’s some good supportive ones out there, but too many are self-serving demagogues trying to fatten their retirement.

Don’t allow building principals get a sway in athletics. They don’t have a clue “What’s best for kids.” They’re on the same level as MSHSAA…or wildebeests…or Loretta Switt…or that no-talent arm twirler Bernadette from “ZOOM.”

I think you are making this a bigger deal than it is, and you are definitely going to the extreme on potential consequences. Every game is like a 30-minute drive, and if you are worried about the heat in August, then games will be pushed back, just like they are now.

I don't know why this is being changed but it doesn't seem like the end of the world. JV games, even in the summer, are usually played at 6:00 or earlier.

What do the fans on this board from Ladue, Clayton and Maryland Heights think of this? I'm surprised to not see them give their input on this issue.

Several of the STL schools already play at 6 because their fancy neighborhoods don’t want football lights ruining their peaceful evening sipping wine and polishing their watch collections
Send them to Plaza Frontenac for the evening................

Sounds like something a building administrator would say…or possibly a wildebeest.

Sounds like the STL area booster clubs need to get their act together. If administrators are attempting to pull crap like that then its obvious that the booster clubs arent running the show. Because while doing whats "best for the kids" is great. But doing whats "best for the bottom dollar" is the real mission.

The suburban conferences are a shell of their former selves. Top end schools are still pretty good, but the talent is nothing like it used to be, and will most likely never come back. I would see the day coming where more of the smaller schools have to start co-oping in order to survive. Multiple factors but privates poaching students who also happen to run real fast, lack of coaches, dwindling community support, etc. and things have really dropped at a lot of those schools.

How long until eastern MO starts firing up 8-man?

Yeah. I guess it depends what neighborhood and what schools you’re talking about baha

look at the 8 man rosters and tell me which ones couldnt play 11 man. its not a choice between 8 man and fall baseball.
Weren't you just talking about being an option and having the ability in another thread?

Phew.

Archie COULD play 11 man but they wouldn't have near the success.

Drexel COULD but they wouldn't win a game 11 man.

Yes and I'm in the same side here. Because all schools have the ability. Much different than the kids and parents who dont
