Did some digging on State titles

Dan Kneewshaw played for Branson and yes they made it to the title game in 89 in 90 his senior year I believe they would lose in Districts to Aurora. But even with all Branson's talent in the 80's and 90's I am not sure they won a title either?
Branson played in the finals in 87 and 89 but did not get a win..... Ozark was in the Championship game in 98 and lost to Helias

Nixa was in the title game in 2014 vs. Battle. Nixa had the RB that ended up going to Miss State.

Didn't Nixa have a kicker go to Florida State a few years ago?

Seems they have had some talent go thru that program, for this area to have that many Legit D-1 players in that amount of time is pretty good.

Allen is the fourth NCAA Division-I football recruit from Nixa High School in the past four seasons. Running back Alec Murphy is a redshirt sophomore at Mississippi State. Kicker/punter Logan Tyler started for Florida State as a true freshman. Chase Allen is at Iowa State.

I knew he was from somewhere down there south of Springfield, just couldn't remember where. I knew him from playing ball against him. He could swing it.

A Class 5 school having that many D-1 players is crazy.

I think ou812 can help out with the Rock Port question. If I'm wrong he can clarify, they were supposed to play at South Harrison, there was a double booking of the crew. South Harrison said they could get a crew there later that night, or they could come back and play Saturday at Bethany or SH would pay for the crew and play Saturday at Rock Port. The coach said they would not play, which I don't know if it counted as a loss for SH or RP since SH was supposed to have the crew. Yes they were kicked out that spring of the GRC. They were trying to duck out.

I'm pretty sure Ozark was in the State Championship game years ago, when Dan Kneeshaw was their RB.

I don’t believe they won either. And Kneeshaw was at Branson. I’m glad someone corrected that. Haha.

Hancock did a hell of a job there for what...25-30 years? His last decade there was a little rough, great coach everywhere he went.

Kneeshaw was at Branson and yes they played in 1989 3A finals losing a heartbreaker to Lutheran North in Briggs Stadium (now Plaster) in Springfield.

It was that game. Branson had it all, but won until they gave up the late scores sandwiched around an onside kick to lose the game.

Branson led 26- 14 with about 20 seconds remaining. Lutheran North threw a bomb to score a touchdown to make it 26-21. They recovered the onside kick with less than 10 seconds remaining. Branson's defense spread out all over the field expecting a Hail Mary. North ran a draw with the speedy running back weaving around the defenders and diving into the endzone as time expired. The wildest finish I have ever seen. Branson was devastated.

That was the year that Webb City won their first state championship against Sumner.

My point was that the MSHSAA guide lists the State Championship game in 1972 between Hazelwood and Southwest KC. That is Hazelwood Central, as the designation of Central was added to the school in 1973-74. It is the same school, the Hawks, not Hazelwood East Spartans or Hazelwood West Wildcats. That's what I was implying. Not a new school just a name change designation.
Hazelwood did not split until the 73-74 school year.

Craig co-ops with Mound City. Union Star co-ops with King City.

No argument on that, but when MSHSAA used to publish a yearly results book, Hazelwood and Hazelwood Central were recognized as two different schools. Note that the 1st year the 3 schools were in existence they were all in one building with East and West attending from 6:30AM-12:30PM and Central from 12:30-6:30PM.

The MSHSAA guides I have credit that title to Hazelwood Central in their total championships.

I know we still have East Newton. But Granby used to have its own high school and participated in football.
