I think most folks consider it an upset. Desoto had 10 losses on the season and they were seeded 2nd in their district. They beat the 1 seed Festus who had given ND their only loss of the year in an 11 inning game a little earlier. ND started 8 seniors, who went to the Final 4 as juniors last season, and one junior. Desoto is very young with several freshmen including twins that pitch and play SS. I reckon it was mostly a team that is peaking at the right time, had a good game plan defensively and stuck to it. It didn't hurt that Desoto scored 3 in the top of the first with some small ball and a 2 run homer. They added another home run later and the freshman pitcher kept ND's hitters off balance, they only hit 3 or 4 balls hard all day. Good luck to the Lady Dragons the rest of the way.
