Home of the Cubs!!
I have a family member who was cut back to 32 hours a week, so he got the extra $600 a week on top of his one day unemployment and his 32 hours of pay. He used that extra money to go purchase a boat. Not sure that he really needed $600 but I also not sure he didn't deserve nothing? I just think giving $600 to everybody seems like over kill? But I don't know what the answer is because I know some could use the money?

I think there needs to be some sort of increase in the amount you get based on your income. I do not know what maybe 75% of income or something. I don't know but a lot of people need it and some truly don't.

Exactly, My bother didn't turn it down, but he would be the first one to tell you that $600 to him was over kill, he would have been happy just to make up the difference for being off that one day.

That money, the $1200 payments and the spending those allowed kept our economy from a total collapse. Congress saved the day with that first round despite much of the PPP going to unworthy businesses.

I have wondered the same thing, Monett has a Lowes and I know they said they have had their best year on record since they opened in 2006. Right now Monett has posted the best sales tax receipts ever in the last two months.

Monett’s two sales taxes supporting the general fund at 1 percent generated $203,625.04, up $22,119.84, or 12 percent, from a year ago. It was the first time ever the city’s sales tax has brought in more than $200,000 for two consecutive months.

Three months in a row of rising receipts has placed the city’s general fund total at $742,735.50, up 7 percent over the start of the last fiscal year. General fund receipts for 2020 are more than $53,000 ahead of this point a year ago.

How the world do you get unemployment for one day a week while working four days a week? Never heard of any such thing anywhere.

It happens, going on in many factories.

It is the way the bill was written, so no matter what if you lost just one day because of Covid you got $600. My Cousin who worked at Walmart in Mississippi got $600 for the first few weeks then he went back to normal hours and lost it, While his bother who worked at a casino continued to get it and and work half weeks so he made way more than an essential worker.

It does need to continue. It needs to be tweaked but it can be better. And we definitely need to do something for the essential workers

I think it needs to continue, and maybe $600 is the top out point for some depending on what they are still possible making and making on unemployment? but not for everybody, we don't need to give a blank $600 to anybody for whatever.

As for essential workers, I have seen some companies who are profiting nicely off of this pandemic giving out a bonus, but nothing near what the profit they are making. Walmart is really cleaning house during this time, but not all employees are profiting. Again my cousin works in the electronic department says their sales are better now then any time he has worked there in the last 20 years!
