Coldest HS Game you played, coached, or attended?

Marionville was in the Midwest. 10 teams in the conference I think, every year you rotated and skipped a team. Just so happened that year, that it was the 2 best teams that didn't play each other. The playoff game was a quarterfinal. The first year they had them. Prior to that, the point system would've kept one of the two undefeated teams at home. Great game at Marionville, huge crowd.
Quarters started in 1975. We played Seneca in qtrs that yr.

Windsor at Seneca 1986 playoffs. Coldest game ever. They painted the yard lines back then and they froze. Players would get cut when they fell on them. Windsor had a kid whose face mask broke because of the cold. The refs kept calling “TV timeouts” so the kids could go to the sideline to warm up. A concern was that the home team had several large heaters while the visiting team had one small heater. Shannon Crouch was Seneca’s star and he had entourage of underclass men who would drape him with coat and gloves when he came to the sideline. The cameraman hands were so cold he couldn’t move his fingers. So the game film was running all the time with no break between plays.
Always hospitable, Windsor got ice cold soda delivered to their lockerroom after the game. Seneca came back from a half time deficit to win the game. It was a thriller.
Same night Stockton played Spfd Catholic I assume. Stockton changed into tennis shoes at halftime, cleats were just sliding on top of frozen ground.

Until Golden City & Greenwood dropped football in the early-mid 80s, the Midwest Conference had 11 teams. Along with GC & GW, were Greenfield, Jasper, Liberal, Lockwood, Marionville, Miller, Pierce City, Sarcoxie, & Stockton.

November 9, 2018, Borgia @ Camdenton, District Championship. 7 degrees at kickoff, 25 MPH winds. Below zero by end of game. Borgia lost 24-13.
The walk from the parking lot to the booth that night was brutal. Lol

1986, I think it was round 1 of playoffs, or district title game, or something, Marshfield @ Camdenton. Driving home after the game, the radio guy said the windchill was -40ish. We played in tennis shoes because the field was frozen. It was a good night for us as Lakers. Winning helped warm us up, a tad!

I almost forgot - 2018 Deer season Eve, District semi finals at Belton we played against Fort Osage at their place in Independence. It had to be around 0 degrees at kickoff. I Pads on the sideline froze it was so cold.
Next morning for opening day of deer season it was perfect weather around 20-25 for the high.

You're right. I went to that game. Went to the Stockton/MV QF game in 78, as well.
Steve Sater, Michele Mc Gehee and company. They were salty. We were down 13 to 6 at half , lost 20 to 6. They won championship that yr.

Now I've watched some games in heavy rain but none and I mean NONE, were heavier than the Ampipe - Walnut Heights game back in 83. I dont think we need to get into the events that rainy game spawned afterwards...
You mean your trashing Coach’s yard and encouraging others to partake in your criminal activity in exchange for your providing minors with alcohol?

Ask this question next year and I bet the ground gets harder and the temps get colder than this year! Ya'll need to take up fishing, bet you would be very successful.

You guys down south Missouri don't know what cold is. Up here in the NW corner we get those winds out of Nebraska and Iowa.

Why don’t you get on the PA board where people might give a shart about your Penn State Sandusky-loving fake fat arse?
LOTS of misinformation here. 1) I did NOT mention MY Penn State Nittany Lions in that post. At all. We were discussing the WEATHER!!! 2) The Doc Guys assembled HERE!!! On MoSports!! 3) Sometimes I do post on the PA board. NICE TRY BOZO!!!

And they STILL played the game that night.

On November 11, temperatures in Kansas City had reached a record high of 76 °F (24 °C) by late morning before the front moved through. As the cold front approached, the winds increased turning from southeast to northwest. By midnight, the temperature had dropped to 11 °F (−12 °C), a 65°F (36°C) difference in 14 hours.[5] The next day would have a record low of 6 °F (−14 °C) and a high of only 21 °F (−6 °C)

I hear the kids also walked to school barefoot that day uphill and into the wind in both directions.

Just got back from visiting some friends/family up in Tarkio and some in SE Nebraska and I can confirm it is just as windy/cold as it was when I lived up there last some 15 years ago.

When I was growing up that line used to be at Neveda. It has shifted north.

NW mo can be very chilly, but Schuyler county, Clark ect is frigid. Winter of 92 had snow on ground for a month and a half. Kirksville for early track season is brutal.

Ok, you want cold. The winter of 1988 it was so dang cold in Maryville my car would start for 2 weeks because the oil was frozen.

Think it was 88 or 91 had snow on ground from Thanksgiving to the World's shortest parade in spring.

I was going to mention that game at Reed Springs. I was a young asst for Coach Hancock, it was a cold one for sure. Wind was brutal.
Remember that game well. The old field at RS set up and there was nothing to block the wind.
