Nixa @ Lebanon --> Nixa
Republic @ Joplin --> Republic
Ozark @ Waynesville --> Ozark
Carthage @ Willard --> Carthage
Neosho @ Webb City --> Neosho

Glendale @ Kickapoo --> Kickapoo

Who's everyone got?

Nixa: There is really no need to discuss Nixa games for the remainder of the reg season. None of them are compelling.
Republic probably beats Joplin but I could definitely see this going Joplin's way too. I'll say Republic 28-17. Might be a good one.
Ozark handles Waynesville similar to how they handled Willard. Ozark 48-14
Carthage beats Willard 47-7
Kickapoo beats Glendale 24-21.

The game of the week that no one was expecting is 4-0 Neosho at 1-3 Webb City. I don't know how anyone could not favor Neosho here but it just feels wrong. Webb City has some defense but Neosho doesn't. Neosho has offense but that is where Webb City is hurting. They say defense wins games so even though Neosho looks like the superior team here they may not matchup favorably even with this version of Webb City. I'm going to say Neosho wins it 31-28. Wildcard here may be how many defensive points that Young kid can bring to the table.

The west COC is going to be fun to watch over the next few weeks to see who comes out on top.

- Nixa, highly doubt they face a test from that side of the conference.
- Republic, although this is definitely the most interesting game of the week in my opinion. Republic throttled Joplin last year and Joplin was much better last year. Guess we’ll see. Could see it going either way.
- Ozark, carrying over their momentum from last week.
- Carthage, getting back on track before getting into the meat of their schedule.
- Neosho, until Webb proves otherwise. Again, I think this is the week we find out if Neosho is “for real” or not.
- Kickapoo, I guess.

Nixa @ Lebanon --> Lebanon (48-45). Lebanon ran all over Willard and the Eagles are already ordering their championship rings.

Republic @ Joplin --> Republic (34-21). The Tigers are making that move. They'll be tough come district time.

Ozark @ Waynesville --> Ozark (42-4). Ozark feeling good about themselves after a big win.

Carthage @ Willard --> Carthage (54-6). Easy night.

Neosho @ Webb City --> Webb City (24-21). Webb brings in Scott Bailey to audition on Wednesday and he proceeds tp peel some paint in the locker room and gets everybody fired up and scared straight.

Glendale @ Kickapoo --> Kickapoo (12-10). Rivalry game.

Hurd should be back starting with a full week of practice,,that should help Webb offense and could be a difference maker

calpreps projections. go ahead and use these as my picks

Nixa 50 @ Lebanon 3
Republic 28 @ Joplin 17
Ozark 34 @ Waynesville 17
Carthage 55 @ Willard 7
Neosho 34 @ Webb City 21
Glendale 17 @ Kickapoo 38

These are all about what I expected. Crazy to think Neosho is favored by 2 TDs.

Nixa @ Lebanon -- Nixa, as big as they want. Dowds will be busy early.

Republic @ Joplin -- REPMO, but this one is a game. I think it's more compelling than Webb and Neosho. I feel this is a one score game and could go either way. If I'm the REPMO fans, I get to Joplin around 5:00 and hit Hacketts before the game.

Ozark @ Waynesville -- O Tigers ROLL. 4th quarter won't take long. Ozark crowd will invade Hoppers early to celebrate.

Carthage @ Willard -- Carthage. Name the score.

Neosho @ Webb City -- Neosho. It just feels wrong to type this. Webb isn't very good on offense or defense. They're especially vulnerable to the pass, and well, Neosho likes to pass. A lot. It still just feels wrong, but this is just how bad Webb is.

Glendale @ Kickapoo -- Poo. Don't think it's close. More importantly, will anyone in Springfield even know or care this game is happening?

That’s a big assumption Hackett’s will be moving fast enough to get there at 5:00 and be at Junge by 7:00! And I agree with your assessment of Glendale vs the Poo, that’s more of a soccer and basketball rivalry than a football one.

How do you know the best place for eats in like every town? Lol. Personally I prefer Social BTB before going to Junge but Hacketts isn't bad. Just slow.

Webb fans probably drift over to Flag City to drink away the memory of what they just witnessed. Or maybe to celebrate, who knows. But either way that's where they'll be. Neosho doesn't have to play Nixa, could they go undefeated regular season? Wouldn't that be something.

You're probably right, I overlooked Joplin and Republic as a good game this week. If I wasn't so intrigued by the game at Webb that's probably where I would go.

I'm well traveled and well fed! I've heard Social is really good. It's just hard for me to pass anywhere close to Hacketts and not stop in. But you're right, their service isn't built for speed.

I've always wanted to stop in Flag City. Drive by it like every single trip to Webb, just never have. There's a big BBQ/southern style cooking joint I've always wanted to try too. Can't remember if it's officially in Webb or not. But man, it looks good from the outside. Kind of looks like Flat Creek in Republic from the outside.

I'd say Webb/Neosho is probably the more intriguing game. How good is Neosho? Is Webb really THAT bad? Kinda looking for those questions to be answered.

Nixa
Republic
Ozark
Carthage
Neosho - Never would have thought I would be making this pick at the beginning of the year!

I think Neosho might lose their last 2 or 3 games. Carthage 8-1 and between Republic, Neosho and Joplin at 7-2.
Totally possible. As of today I'd also pick Carthage to go 8-1 but their schedule so far has made it a bit difficult to really get a read on them other than I know they aren't bad nor are they next level good. And I believe teams that throw a lot might be a challenge. Other than Willard I don't really see them as heavy favorites in any of the remaining games until I actually see them play one of them.

I'm still trying to convince myself that Webb City's last 2 games were just a glitch and they'll come on strong the rest of the season. Watch them lose to Neosho Willard and Republic, then get inspired to beat Carthage and Joplin to end the regular season on a high note.

Nixa at Lebanon -- Eagles 56-7
Republic at Joplin -- REPMO 27-13 (and keeping with the food theme Social BTB is good, but I do love Woody's Woodfire Pizza)
Ozark at Waynesville -- Ozark 35-7
Carthage at Willard -- Carthage 56-7 (Grab a bag of burgers from Whisler's and head to the game)
Neosho at Webb City -- I can't possibly ... Neosho 28-27 (on a missed PAT) and a tip of the hat to Webb City, it has grown its food menu quite extensively over the years. Two places are on my list to try in the near future, Flag City and Flat Creek.
Glendale at Kickapoo -- Meh, Kickapoo 21-6 (when I'm in Springfield for lunch, Springfield Brewing Company has never let me down).

Love Flat Creek. The Country Fried Steak is huge. We normally get an appetizer (onion rings are very good), then I make two meals out of the entree. I'm certainly no Bosko!

Oh man! SBC is a nice play when in Springfield BUT downtown to Poo is a hike. Go right around the corner from Poo and grab some fatty brisket from City Butcher.

"Nixa 35-Carthage 34. This is going to be a game. Guidie is way better schematically than Nixa. Carthage is good on the defensive front. Nixa will sometimes drop easy throws. The game is in Carthage. However, if you took the best 15 players in this game, 11 or 12 are on the Nixa side, and that will prevail. But does Nixa ever win a big game in any sport? This game isn't big enough for them to lose...they will save that for the playoffs."

Total Yards
Carthage 212
Nixa 448

Nixa- they really needed a non conference game this year.

Republic by more than people think

Ozark

Carthage

Neosho - Webb may get some skill players back but they need help on the O line.

Turnovers will cause that.

Yeah, and not being nearly as good as your opponent causes it too.
I think both can be true. Nixa was definitely the better team last week, Carthage needed to play as close to a perfect game as possible to win, and try to force Nixa into making mistakes. Obviously neither of those things happened, the interception on Carthage’s first drive killed the momentum they had starting out. I was honestly impressed with Nixa’s defense, they played better than what I was expecting.

Sometimes turnovers happen because the other team is better too, huh? If they played 10 times, Carthage doesn't win one of them. And that's no knock on Carthage.

I also agree, both can be true. Just wasn't in this case.

If they played again it wouldn't surprise me at all if Nixa beat them by 50. They were up 27-0 after three and quite obviously put it on cruise control in the fourth.
