A couple pivotal games this week.

WC – The cardinals are playing well right now and in my (possibly incorrect) opinion Nixa is overrated. But my picks have been pretty terrible thus far. WC needs this win to stay in the hunt, even though they won't control their fate. And Nixa needs this to keep from sharing first with the winner of CJ/Carthage.

Carthage – This game has huge implications. The winner will take sole possession of 2nd place and potentially the opportunity to play Nixa for at least a piece of 1st place. This game is the perfect example of why I am glad CJ joined the conference and why it’s been more fun for everyone else having a good but not iron clad WC team in the conference. It’s fun to have multiple high profile games in the area besides just WC and Carthage and occasionally WC and CJ. CJ has allowed very few points and Carthage is near the top of the conference in total offense. They say defense wins games, so we’ll see! Carthage spoiled Willard’s homecoming and they will have to be ready for a battle to keep CJ from doing the same.

Neosho – Neosho has dropped a couple but I still think they are good. I think they will handle Republic by a considerable margin.

Willard – Ozark has wins against both #2 teams and Willard is struggling to orchestrate wins in spite of being what I think is a solid group of athletes. But I think Willard will get it done this time.

Branson – Branson hasn’t won a game but has looked competitive against some very good teams. I think they will get into the win column here, and maybe by a lot.

I agree Webb is the favorite, but the state polls would make one believe otherwise.
7-3 games are tossups in my opinion.
Wouldn't surprise me if Republic beat Neosho.

The ‘experts’ on this thread picked WC solidly over Nixa 10:1 and Carthage over CJ by an 8:3 margin. So what do we know that they don’t? I suppose they are putting more stock in the media rankings than us.

I'm surprised that 4 people at the Ozone had the guts to pick WC over a Springfield area school when it isn't like a lot of years past where WC was the clear favorite. Media doesn't generally pick against the hometown team.

As far as CJ-Carthage, I'm in the minority that I see CJ winning the game but my confidence level is pretty low. I certainly don't see CJ as a big favorite and totally can see this game being 14-14 in the middle of the 4th quarter.

I would not be surprised if the game was decided by something like a fumble or a missed extra point, the latter of which Carthage has struggled with in some games.
