Per Channel 41 in KC, the Clinton Cardinals will not be playing varsity football this year. Lack of players and player safety was cited. They will field a Jv team.

Hardin Central Hall-of-Fame Coach Gary O'Neil won a Class 1A State Title one year in with 14 players...
Not quite, Don. In 1980 when they beat Greenwood they had 22. In 1987 when they beat Adrian, they had 21. Note in those years FB classes followed basketball - if you were 1A in BB , you were 1A in FB.
The year you are referring to I think was 99 when they were beat in the 2nd round by South Harrison which was the only team they played that year with an overall winning record. They beat East Buck in the 1st round and they were only .500.

I stand corrected...thanks for the clarification!

There is something really wrong in Clinton, Mo. There is no way a school that size should not be able to field a football team.

They have 22 in grades 10 to 12 and didnt list 9th graders

Guess they shouldn't run off coaches every 3 years. Tends to kill programs

up here O'fallon Christian dropped football trinity closed. Vashon, Normandy, and other schools have less than 20 players. class 3 and some class 4 schools up here can't play lower-level games. Soccer is so big up here it is really hurting the numbers in football in classes 3 and 4.
