[2021] West Plains (MO) 38, [2021] MICDS (St. Louis, MO) 34

It’s funny how your calpreps ranking show West Plains below MICDS but on the head-to-head matchup they have West Plains winning, so either the rankings are flawed using their own system, or you changed the rankings

No disrespect to Carl Junction but if they and McDonald County are top 10, then the new classification system really created a void of competition in that space.

Class 4 was heavily dominated by just a hand full of the largest schools in that division that are almost all C5 now.

Huh? Who said Lamar could beat Webb? They just need to win class 2. Not sure what the reference is in that

It has been a topic on this board in previous years.
This is the most down Webb has been. For years. Since we are talking things out that can’t be proven or disproven. I bet the 2017 team could beat or take this current Webb team to the wire. Webb doesn’t look good. And obviously that would be why I would say such a thing. If they even looked like last year I’d say no way.

I agree. Frustrating part is the CJ teams from a few years ago would have smoked this class 4.

Most classes are dominated by the biggest in class there was a post about this a couple years ago with the only outliers being private schools Maryville and Harrisonville

That is true. Those two were the only public champs not in the top two quartiles. I had people grabbing dictionaries on that post.

Those CJ teams you are referring to beat WP by 7 one year and 14 another year. I think it would be interesting to see how this years WP team would matchup against them. It would be a dogfight. With 150 penalty yards against WP more than likely. Haha

From a post from 2019:
Or Maryville--in the bottom quartile in size in C3 for years. None of the above are in the bottom quartile in size. Webb is always in the top 10% in size in Class4:

2009 C2 State Champs
2010 C3 #4 Rank
2011 C3 #5 Rank
2012 C3 State Champs
2013 C3 State Champs
2014 C3 #2 Rank
2015 C3 #3 Rank
2016 C3 State Runner-Up
2017 C3 State Champs
2018 C3 #3 Rank

I think the 2016 team was the best one and that team didn't play WP.

That’s good, because that was the only year in the last 8 seasons(including this year), that WP had a losing record. Finished 5-6. It would have been ugly and definitely in CJs favor.

Maryville has been dominate over the past 10 years, Harrisonville has had one good season during that time, pretty average if you take the year out that they won it.

Webb moved to C5. They have been the only team "dominating" C4 that moved up. Platte County was in the running a few times. Helias last year.

Class 4 has an even smaller number of schools who are capable of winning it now than in the past (and it was pretty small then, too), but everyone else after those few schools...dicey. Just to get to 10 different schools who have even won it in class 4, you have to go all the way back to Sumner in 90-91.

Class 4 (and 4A) champions: Helias-3, Webb City-15, Ladue-1, Harrisonville-1, Kearney-4, Lee's Summit West-1, Camdenton-5 (with a tie), Clayton-1, Excelsior Springs-2, and Sumner-2. You can add Webster Groves-1, Marshall-1 (tie), Chillicothe-1, Parkwood-1, and St. Charles-1 if you go back to when we first had 5 classes in 1982.
