Lincoln College Prep is public (KCPS)
Battle is public. Columbia Independent may be private, so not exactly sure how that works with the co-op.

There is no gray area. Lincoln Prep is a public school and only draws from kids inside its district. This is not the same as a charter.

I don't believe the Battle/Columbia Independent co-op makes them private and the handbook doesn't even cover this. Schools are not going to co-op with small private schools if they fall under the private school success factor.

Yes there is a damn gray area Lincoln college prep can pull from all of kcps boundaries not just their own. furthermore they are not required to take anyone in a set boundary and have minimum requirements to be eligible to enroll such as a 3.0 gpa in core classes, 90% attendance and a good behavior record. that's a hell of a lot different than the requirements for lets say kc central or Ruskin.

yes it does make them private and subject to the champ factor and hell yes the handbook covers it.
page 130 section 3.e
Cooperative Sponsorships: Any co-op that includes an MSIP-exempt school is subject to the championship factor andthe accumulation of points for post-season advancement. As a co-op, the points for each school are held together, and theco-op may move up or down in classification based on total points, as described above. MSIP-exempt schools carry theirown points into a new co-op. Each school within a coop (including a public school) will carry a percentage of the pointsearned during the co-op when the co-op disbands (50% each for a two-school co-op; 33% each for a three-school co-op).For new co-ops of only MSIP-exempt schools, prior points (like enrollments) will be added together to determine points for theco-op. Forming or disbanding a coop will not eliminate points or protect from re-classification based on earned points.

"Generally, you cannot send your child to Lincoln Prep in Kansas City (which is part of the Kansas City Public Schools district) if you live outside of the school district boundaries unless your district participates in an "open enrollment" program or there are specific exceptions like a court-ordered transfer due to special needs; it's best to contact the Kansas City Public Schools directly to check on their specific policies regarding out-of-district enrollment at Lincoln Prep"

Then you need to have an asterisk since if they earned points it would be 50%

pulling from an entire district and pulling from school boundaries are different a traditional public school like lees summit can only pull from their boundaries and lees summit north and west is off limits. however lincoln prep can pull from the boundaries of the whole district including other high schools. i hope this helps you understand why they are in the gray area

Ok, but there isn't a grey area. It's classified as a public school and doesn't receive championship factor points. Several STL public schools do this as well.

yes its a gray area where at this time mshsaa allows them to operate and yes multiple STL schools do this. MSHSAA doesn't even follow its own rule book so lets not judge right/wrong, or white/black/gray based off their decisions. The most commonly agreed upon thing on this board is that MSHSAA is a clown show
