Joplin, Carthage, Webb City, Carl Junction and Neosho school districts provided the latest COVID-19 data available over the first week of the 2021-22 school year. Out of the five school districts, more than 70 students and staff had active COVID cases.

Neosho alone has 4700 students, not including faculty and staff. There are 7,700 Joplin students, 5000 at Carthage, 4,600 Webb, 3,300 CJ. Students only. That would be 97/25,000 ish= .38% . I think the teams are fine

Yes kneel to the Overlords in control all you stupid peasants and serfs...give up your rights and individual free will. Let the entitled elite chart your course and all will be good and happiness will befall you!!

I still cannot comprehend the mask wearing, vaccinated individuals who are so worried about everyone else. If you are wearing a mask and vaccinated and truly believe that both work then you should be double protected from those who are not either. Correct? Being this worried tells me that mask/vaccinated people agree that neither work.

Supposedly several big football programs around here were/are very active in their don't ask, don't tell, definitely don't test policies - if you are sick just stay home a few days until visible symptoms are gone. Anything to avoid the mass quarantines that would result in canceling games.

I don't recall any team in the coc canceling last year except for Carthage cancelling vs Webb City. Some suggested that Carthage would have found a way to play had it been against anyone but Webb City.

Well you have a few different camps there. I think some are high risk and/or genuinely scared and know the vaccine isn't 100% effective.

But most are the types that just get good feels by doing what they are told by leaders and what they believe to be helpful to the common good of the community, regardless of how much impact it actually makes.... ie the collectivist if we all mask/lockdown and it saves one life it's worth it argument. I think this mostly comes from a desire to do good even if it's largely ineffective and idealogical in many aspects.

Then you also have those who just like to show their virtues and membership of "team blue" by masking up in public or on camera and wearing their vaccine status on their sleeve.

AKA "Virtue Signaling"...versus sound scientific policy.

I really enjoy the mask/vaccine pushers who eat three meals of fast food a day, never work out, smoke and drink too much. They will be the ones telling me that I need to do my part to keep them healthy.

This 100%.
FWIW I’m generally pro vaccine for adults but that observation is so true. Especially many teachers that spent the summer on vacations and now need to be protected again.

Covid knows if you are at Disney World or a school. If we replaced all the students desk with restaurant tables maybe the kids would not have to wear masks.
