Bolivar

It would take a long time to lay everything out here and, contrary to what Mit San thinks, I don't prepare my comments in advance :)

If you go to the www.bolivarmonews.com website and search for Lance Roweton you can read about a lot of it. I don't have a personal axe to grind here but, I do want to see these types of decisions made out in the open for the community to see rather than behind closed doors. We are having a forum here in Bolivar next week to discuss everything that led up to our school being left out of a conference and how we are going to deal with the new schedule and travel etc.

My question is, WHY ARE THERE SO MANY "TIGERS" in the COC. How about this year whom ever has the best record of the tigers in the league keeps the name. Others have to change.

Just trying to keep it lite...;)[/QUOTE]

Now this I can get behind!
FWIW... Joplin vs Nixa should be a winner take all for the Eagle mascot rights when they face off in 18.

Willard should be the Rats and before someone says I'm talking bad about Willard there's an old book that was made into a movie named Willard and it's about Rats.

Tigers and teams with primary color as red! CJ, WC, ozark nixa, Branson, all red! My kids sometimes get confused with the tigers playing the tigers every other game. Ha

At least all the Tigers are different colors. We identify them by color not town... red tigers, blue tigers, orange tigers, black tigers.

SPS did a decent job of mixing up the colors. Parkview and Kickapoo share gold, Glendale/Hillcrest share blue (different shades, though), and Central & Glendale share Red.

Completely random but I vote for this conference
Bolivar
Rogersville
Republic
Hillcrest
Springfield Central
Marshfield
Camdenton
Lebanon

Ok, obviously this makes no sense, but Osage is no where in the enrollment area to be with these schools and Log-Rog really isn't either

I don't have sour grapes, they screwed over a coach years back, so whatever that school or town gets then all the better. What comes around goes around.
Which coach are you referring to? Are you talking about the one that was in over his head and went winless in his one year at Bolivar and was replaced Fred Brouchard?

Hey that sword cuts both ways, those teams they were beating the crap out of were made up of just High school kids also.

You are missing the point. The student athletes in all sports are now going to be facing extensive travel schedules. Those that revel at the unfortunate turn of events and expense of student athletes in "all sports" are taking life too seriously.

Are you saying Bouchard was in over his head at Bolivar? How could he be in over his head at Bolivar and the very next year go to Harrionville and proceed to go 76-6 over 6yrs with 5 class 3 state championship appearances winning four of them! Including rocking Bolivar in the 04 quarters 56-21.

Bolivar High School Facebook page has a video from a live feed from a community meeting about not being in a conference. The best part is when they justify why they didn't move out of the COC small bc they would lose in COC large and the OC. The Admin and coaches liked whooping up on small schools and they got what they had coming to them. What goes around comes around

Let me state for the record (because I know several will think it, especially since I intend to post a lot less often) that 417kevin is NOT an alias of mine; you'll only see me create an alias if I ever get banned :D

That being said, do you have a link to this video, 417kevin (obviously not live anymore, but a recording)? Was it citizens or faculty who were saying these things?

For the record, what also came out of the meeting through emails that were gathered is that Lance Roweton was not one of those coaches. He voted to move to the Large COC as well as the OC. Two other coaches did as well.

Administration and some coaches. Very few. The parents were very clear that they did not agree and that we should have seen all of this coming. Nobody likes seeing their kid have to sit at half time because we are up by 30 points. The reference was made to our smaller conference sports having to compete against Class 5 and 6 schools in all fairness.

Seems like Springfield and the surrounding areas need to start going to a 2 year cycle like the St. Louis Suburban Conference and the Kansas City Suburban Conferences. I know this takes away from common historical opponents but it could alleviate some of the issues listed above.

All you have to do go to BHS Facebook page, its the video that looks like an auditorium with a lot of empty seat. You'll hear some sappy "we weren't treated right" whiney things, but pretty informative. I love that Bolivar got left high and dry! There's a reason why football always won conference but never could make it far in the playoffs :), beating up on small schools

That's pretty much standard procedure in better programs. Whats wrong with pulling your starters early 3rd qtr and letting other kids play/??? unless you are just trying to pad your stats

I do understand that we are in a unique situation. We only have two schools in our immediate are that are near us in size... Rogersville and Marshfield. So I don't think there is any way to escape being in an area conference where we are either one of the smaller schools in a large school conference or a larger school in a small school conference. The school district is forming a committee that parents will be serving on to see what we can do moving forward. Their stated goals, according to their meeting last night, is to see what can be done to accommodate the next two year cycle where we are going to be independent in every sport and to prepare for trying to get in to a conference by the time the next two year cycle rolls around. I also give them credit for having the meeting last night and allowing parent to speak. The new superintendent, Dr. Tony Berry, let the parents know that this was his idea. So that is a good sign. The new superintendent seems to support an open dialogue. We need that here. I also appreciate the administration taking my questions even thought they very pointed and delicate. I know it wasn't easy for anyone involved. Many parents are still not happy with the fact that we don't know how we got here or why but, I think we are going to have to be satisfied with the fact that we are not going to get those answers, regardless of the reason. I believe the best thing that could happen in Bolivar is for the administration to continue having regular public updates. Not knowing allows people to fill in the gaps with their imagination.

How are you parents confused at how you got here?! Last night they said they were given opportunities to play schools their size (moving into COC large or OC) but that would mean they wouldn't be winning as much. Done. Your fellow admin and coaches screwed you over, Bolivar is getting what they had coming. Call it Karma, call it whatever. Clearly what goes around comes around, lol

It's pretty apparent that you just joined the board recently to make these comments and you have every right to do that. And I know I shouldn't bite at this because it is trolling but, at least be factual when you com eon the board.

Bolivar moved to Class 4 in 2008. We were one of the smallest Class 4 schools in the state.

2008 - Beat larger Nevada, Beat larger Republic, Beat larger Marshfield, Beat larger Hillsboro, beat larger Union, loss to Webb (who hasn't right?)

2009 - Beat larger Nevada, beat larger Republic, beat larger Willard, beat larger Hillcrest twice, beat larger Marshfield, beat larger Union, lost to Webb (It's a pattern)

2010 - Beat larger Neosho, beat larger Marshfield, beat larger Marshall, beat larger Warrensburg, loss to Helias and Webb.

2011 - Beat larger Neosho, beat larger Marshfield, beat larger Marshall, beat larger Warrensburg, lost to Helias and Webb (always close with Helias)

2012 - beat larger Neosho, lost to larger Branson with no starter QB, Lost to Harrisonville with no starter QB, beat larger Marshfield, beat larger Grain Valley, beat larger Raytown south (even my friends from Webb said okay you are the real deal), lost to Harrisonville by one touchdown.

2013 - Beat larger Neosho, beat larger Branson, beat larger Harrisonville, beat larger Marshfield, beat larger Warrensburg, beat larger Grandview, beat larger Pleasant Hill, lost to Liberty North that had dropped down from Class 5.

So I understand the point about many of the Small COC schools being smaller than us (not our fault). I get that we scored a lot of points (my son sat a lot of second halfs becuase of this and I have no problem with it) but don't say we never played anybody and don't say we never beat the bigger schools. It just isn't true. We have one of the best entry level records in to class four in the history of the state.

Just out of curiosity can you list the schools in those two conference that are "our size" as I am confused. And did you not hear the part where it was made clear our football coach at the time supported moving in to both of those conferences even though the schools are much larger?

By the way... I signed my name. If you are going to bash a program why not sign your?

The schools that you play in districts that you constantly lose to every year are your size.
I'm glad you can sign your name, you must have grew up at a prestigious school like Bolivar. I don't have a program, I like keeping up with Missouri football. Now go play teams your size and see how good liberator football really is.

So beating Republic, marshfield, Grandview, Warrensburg, Union, Hillsboro, Nixa, Branson= schools that are larger dont count?

Thank you for posting that and showing you how much you don't know. And I can tell how interested you are in "Missouri football" since you just joined six days ago just to make a Bolivar post. LOL. What a joke...

You're such a troll. Here we go with the small school thing again. You talk as if Bolivar was in the Polk County league playing teams with 1,000 people in their town. The small has 4 teams that are very comparable in size to Bolivar. Marshfield, Rog, Reeds. And Catholic as the private school in Sgf. The smallest school Buffalo has 346 less students than Bolivar (804 to 458). In the COC large there will be 3 schools with at least 800 more kids than Bolivar, with the majority having 500 more kids. CJ and Webb are the smallest with 1177 and 1006 students. The OC would also have 3 teams with 800 more students. Also with most schools having at least 500 more students.
So you advocate that Bolivar has this huge disparity in size in the small but also say that they should move in to a much more unequal league?

Lib, Coach Fox, cry all you want, that's what snowflakes do. You "bit" on this "trolling" because you know it's true. You just like to use those terms to make you feel better, meaning you continue to live in your world of delusion. You can't handle that everyone knows what I've said is true, hence why you still can't figure out "how we got here." Stop drinking the liberator kool-aid and you'll see why no one wanted you in their conference and how you'll never get past WC. Or don't, and continue to be "blind sided" and "treated unfairly" by the other schools that you actually treated unfairly.

Easy there buddy! Ive heard a lot of talk like this before in the booster club meetings. If you want real change, you organize the town and run out the responsible party. Trolling online wont get you anywhere!

But you've yet to tell us what schools are similar in size within the OC and COC Large. From my count there's only 3 teams within the Bolivar to Buffalo discrepancy (346) in those 2 leagues. West Plains, CJ, and Hillcrest. All with 200 to almost 300 more students. Besides Webb, with 373 more students, the rest have 500 more at least.

Keep drinkin the kool aid man! In the mean time, I can't wait for Bolivar to lose the COC small 2017 title on their way out (Not tying either haha). I'm crossing my fingers they go out with losses to Hollister and Buffalo, too Assistant Coach Blair will be crying so hard he won't know whether to call daddy or apply at another district
