Best Missouri HS Running Backs

Javis Vineyard- Clark County

Graduated from CC in 2009

Ran for over 4,000 yds in his junior and senior year combined.

His junior and senior year, Clark Co. compiled a 25-1 combined record.

Rushed for over 2,500 yds(averaged just under 12 yds a carry) and 43 total TDs as a senior and led Clark County to a 15-0 record and a class 2 championship victory over Maryville.

Their defense that year was also ridiculous. Maryville scored 7 points on them in the dome.

Vineyard signed with Missouri Western. I don't know what happened to him after that though.

Higginsville (Lafayette Co now) had one in the 50s that was bigger than most linemen.. played college and briefly pro... Bucky Wegener
For Chillicothe, we've had a few...David White in the mid-late 80s was a triple threat... equally skilled at running, catching or throwing the halfback pass for tds. In the early mid 60s Butch Davis was a threat to score anytime he touched the ball. He played D-Back for Mizzou and for Chicago and Green Bay in the NFL

Thurmon Hoskins from Lathrop, early 80's. Dude was a MAN!

Jedi May from Lathrop in the late 1990's......what might have been if he could have kept everything straight. I remember him being an absolute stud as an underclassman then pretty much disappearing.

That would be Dillion Webb

Had to tackle him and schaffitzel my senior year. Caleb was faster and had all the stats from playing in the mid lakes but i thought webb was the better back that year. He ran my ass over then drug me for another 10 yards when we played at seneca that year

I remember Gerry Ellis from Col. Hickman, he was a man among men when he was a freshman at Jeff Jr.

The Archie Whirlwind- Brad Hocker

The biggest moment of my football career involved Brad Hocker... 6th grade youth football I caught a halfback pass from him for a touchdown. We lived and played at Drexel. The following year we both moved, me to the bright lights and big city of Blue Springs and he, just up the road to Archie. I never played organized football again as my parents guided me towards soccer and baseball.

I know he is Class 1 and all but I'm absolutely shocked no one has mentioned Kellen Overstreet from Hamilton.

Also many years ago I played against a guy from East Prarie outta the bootheel named Paris Tipler who was an awesome back. Kind of a one man team when he played us.

Brandon Perry- Boonville
Ladarrian Page- LSW

Anyone remember a back from St Louis in the mid/late 70's named John Mineo? I have an old The Big 8 magazine and he was one of the first teamer's in the Firday Night Heroes high school section.

Jason Belzer from Raytown South was a shifty back in the late 80's he went on to play DB for Oklahoma then the Colts and finished up with the Chiefs.
