Strength of schedule. I'd be willing to bet they'll still end making a run to the dome or to the semis at least, but time will tell.

Kickapoo is finally getting some respect it's ridiculous the media in St. Louis and Kansas City obviously don't think much of them. It's too bad they should probably be ahead of SLUH and Rockhurst actually. Although Rockhurst has played the toughest schedule in the state Hands-down. But as devils advocate they have not won any of their tough games

Kickapoo being ranked won't last long, I'm an Ozark conference supporter and all, but they don't play any schools their size all year long, that's why on the Class 6 level they don't get any votes. Their only win over a Class 6 school came in a game where the opposition committed 7 turnovers. Granted, Kickapoo has a good D, but when they opposition makes that many mistakes, it's an easy win. I hope I am wrong, but I just don't see Kickapoo staying in the rankings. All it will take is for them to lose one game to a Class 4 or 5 and they'll drop out.

Mark Twain having a really good year. That District however...

Being in the same district as Valle would suck for anyone, and even if by some wild chance, they did beat Valle in districts then they would be looking at Marionville or Lockwood most likely, possibly even Thayer. I believe the quarterfinal match-up between those two districts this year will be the deciding factor in who wins state.

Kickapoo wouldn't stand a chance against ANY team in the top ten of Class 6 (including Rockburst); Kickapoo wouldn't even stand a chance against half the teams in the Large COC (even if they end up winning the OC, which I doubt)

I'll gladly eat a triple helping of Crowe if I'm proven wrong come playoff time (goodness knows I want SWMO to be relevant in Class 6, they're just not...)

The BSS/Rockhurst game should tell us a lot about KC Class 6.
The only time I've seen Blue Springs South play was in the dome back in 06 when they destroyed CBC. It was impressive to say the least.

I'm trying to remember something if someone can help me out. There was a kicker named Marcelo Velaquez I believe. Played for one of the KC schools. I saw him in the dome sometime between 05-07. Does anyone know who he played for? Was the most impressive Missouri kicker I've seen. Kicked it through the uprights on almost every kickoff. If someone does know, did he go play at the next level? just curious

I will be there to gladly serve you your triple helping at Crow. Lol
I think your giving to much credit to class 6 . All classes have a couple good teams , then everybody else. Kickapoo can compete with those team Rockhurst included ! We will see but I'm going to go ahead and start warming the oven!

Fun fact. Hunting crows in Missouri is a bottomless bag....

Saw Kickapoo at the Jamboree this year. Really surprised, from what I saw, they are ranked. But, it was only a Jamboree, you can only tell so much.

I'd recommend waiting to see if they can get through the OC unscathed before hearing the oven...

Not that I'm looking ahead at all, but assuming West Plains gets through Joplin and Lebanon, that matchup @ Kickapoo for the OC championship will be a huge game. The Zizzers have only won once @ Kickapoo and that was back in 07. I can't remember if that was Thompson's last year there, or the year after he left.

I see Webb City at the jamboree every year and nine out of 10 years I'm shocked that they blow everybody out! Lol
I have not personally seen Kickapoo but they are beating people with ease not sure it means anything but I can't believe Eureka St. Louis University high are any better.

BTW no way Kickapoo loses to any teams in the COC but Webb City and Nixa that's it. Carthage may put up a fight but if Kickapoo's physical at all that's trouble for Carthage

Just my opinion, but I think they would struggle against not only Carthage, but Willard too (would be shocked beyind belief if they won more than one district game...)

I am no Carthage apologist by any means but they are a very physical team this year. I have no idea how they match up with Poo but I do not believe Poo would overwhelm them with physical play.

I'm not a Kickapoo fan that was my rival but Carthage for some reason has been giving more credit than they are due the past 5 years ! The chiefs beat both Willard and Carthage . Not blow out just beat em ! I think Kickapoo will win one district game !

On this we agree; I guess the difference is I don't believe that a team that can only win one game in their district deserves to be ranked.

That would depend upon who is in their district. I'm not saying that Kickapoo deserves to be ranked, or that they have the toughest district in 6A or anything. I'm just speaking in general terms.

An excellent point; just look at Webb's district with Carl Junction and West Plains in there also.

Being ranked 8th in class 6 is the same as being ranked 16th in any other class. There are only 32 schools in class 6
At this point based on their record, I would not have ranked them in the top ten period. Is it possible that they could play their way back in to it... yes. This is not rocket science...

Oh yeah, and hey, Bolivar may even creep back into the rankings before the seasons end as well. So that'd be 4 of the top 10 Class 4 teams in the same district. With them being in the COC Small their lack of strength of schedule and not playing up hurts them for districts and in polls and such.

It seems to me like being ranked 8th in class 6 (32 teams) would be like being ranked #16 in other classes (64 teams).

Top 25% in each, right? But your point is valid.

if you win 1 district game in class 6 that puts you in the top 16.

Not sure about class 6 in KC but CBC and Francis Howell are pretty darn special.

The COC Small is down this year but they play Ozark, Branson, and Harrisonville in their non-conference selections. They play who they can outside of their conference. Hard to know where a Class 5 school like Ozark or Branson is going to be when you schedule a year ahead of a two year cycle. I think Kickapoo is legit but I agree(this is scary) with MITS that Class 6 is a different animal and they need to win some of those games before we get out of hand talking about them. As far as WP goes, they have a nice club and will be an excellent match up for most C4 opponents. Kickapoo will roll them at the Poo.
