A look ahead to 2024...an investigation

Looking at next year, K I expect to hold teams to less than 9 points a game in the reg season. They have four-all state players back. Expect pass D to be better. Run D as good.

That makes it easier for the Offense, which is losing the kitchen sink, but brings back younger Emmons. A couple all-staters up front back. There will be some surprises as we saw a preview of the Ham carrier on one game. Expect some smash mouth as the line gets bigger and stronger. The backs will be hard hitting. You ask whoever is QB to just not lose you games. Expected top receiver is faster than #1 this year.
From what I understand KMO has two underclass candidates for QB. It is sooooooo far away but, all things remaining equal i.e. no move outs etc., I expect them to be like Fort O's better teams over the years figuring things out early then flying late.

You have to consider move outs, but ALSO injuries. #19 and #34 on D, when they have both played in high school are 30-1 in high school. 9-0 as Frosh . 21-1 playing on varsity D. #19 did not play in Platte County, Smithville, or Fort game on D. Neither did #34. They are part of a very dominating defensive lineup.

8 man is trash, either put some legwork into getting kids out in your school or partner up with another school. Just my opinion rant over

I might be going out on a limb here, but I would imagine geography and the cost of transportation for tiny schools already strapped for cash might have something to do with at least some of the schools' decisions to play 8-man. Heck, Kansas has 6-man football now out in the Outer Limits. The state champion had 13 players.

they would be the exception not the norm.

Another 2024 question: will Lockwood be Independent in all sports? It seems the recent school board talk in the SWC is centered not only on the addition of Skyline, but the removal of non-11-man football schools. Pleasant Hope has already found a new home next year in the Greater Ozarks Conference, with the plan to do Independent in football. Just curious, as the formation of that conference was centered on 11-man football being a requirement, and the talk being brought up. One would think schedules already made wouldn't be impacted that much as LW could just be a non-conference foe on those evenings, if this is what is occurring.

How much do you know about small school district finances?
I choose to keep my identity private but trust me I come from semo and know alot about small school finances, hell my FFA advisor had to drive me to some events in her car because we couldn't use a bus

Got it. So you at least have first-hand experience with the cash-strapped tiny schools.

I don’t understand the dislike for 8 man. Don’t get me wrong I think the cap should be reduced to 125-135, but at least these kids are getting the opportunity to play football whereas they might not have.

Im not sure it's a dislike.
Some drop so they can be competitive but never admit that.

Also, it's easy to get the 8 man folks riled up. That means something here.

Another thing I will say about the senior class coming back next year. As Frosh, 9-0, but also turbo clock wins over Park Hill South, Oak Park, and Rockhurst..Smithville 30-0. Held opponents to 6 points versus starters. I know you don't like using 8th/9th results, but I find it to be an excellent predictor. With 5 all-staters coming back, a lot of their ultimate level will depend on QB not hurting them.

Actually I do like to look at youth results just know many variables/much time until they arrive at the varsity level. FR and SO classes look very deep and impressive as you say next year depends on the QB but, after what I witnessed this recent playoff and title run, never again gonna question whatever decision(s) this staff makes in that regard!
