810's KC top 35 this week

Sometimes people on the Missouri side wonder why Rockhurst doesn't run over everyone like the old days. The Blue Valley(wealthy families) that used to send their kids to private schools have settled into that district over the last decade. Saves the families 15k a year to go to a top academic public school. They are ranked 3,4 and 15 on this list. It is literally 5-10 miles to Rockhurst for most of those kids. Also, St.James got built during that time and Miege took off. I always wondered what % of the school actually lives in Missouri. I've always assumed it was less than 25% because you have to drive through a lot of heavy traffic from the Missouri side to get there every morning.

This was the same argument I made about St. Pius X for years. Smaller school, so more possibilities. but with really good public schools around (revitalized NKC, and top notch Staley), it was hard to get things going, until they got the new stadium, better equipment, weight room, and an exciting young coach. The recruiting ground throught he North Suburban youth league has always been there, as well as the Catholic league events for youth. Rock might have to dig deeper in recruiting strategy. Saw their B and C Frosh team get destroyed by a local Class 4 team. 80 kids on the ROck side could not beat 35 kids from a C4 program. In fact, it was 56-0. Tells me you got a lot of parents with money that want their kids to play, but they just ain't good. Their parents don't even understand the rules. Their QB took a blistering hit from a LB, and they all whined about a penalty. Their coach threw his hat at the ref and got kicked out the game...This is football Rock people, not powder puff time. Soccer moms needs to stay home.
