Ted Cruz enjoying the weather in Mexico while many in Texas suffer

Sorry not trying to pick on the Pubs, but come on how tone deaf is this.... Girls were out of school for a week so we decided to go to Mexico during the worse power outage on record in Texas....these are not the type of people who should be leading this country. But yet these are the people we elect!!

White House Scandal

If this is the best they can do, it is nice to see stability. IMHO there are some things that really should be talked about. Promises for student loans and deportation policy promises that are not being kept. But hey conservative media gotta find stories where they can.

Does my son need to play AAU?

This is a serious question. He is in 8th grade and if the varsity coach allows freshman on varsity he should have no problem earning a spot next year. They stink currently and have no height. He has had some very good "AAU" coaches, but all I notice is kids showcasing their individual skills trying to please Dad. Very rarely do I see team basketball or more important, no kids having fun. Same in baseball for that matter.
I know the argument is always, they need the competition, college coaches don't look at high school ball anymore. I don't if that is true or not, which is why I'm asking. I told him if you earn a spot on varsity as a 14/15 year old you will be playing against men for the most part. Playing up 2-3 years. So do we need AAU? He also likes playing baseball and AAU and baseball season don't go well together. I don't think there is a future in baseball, but he likes hanging out with his friends in the summer and we have the high school gym right down the street assuming a coach opens it up in the summer to have open gym. He likes football as well, but that's a different conversation.

Any feedback would be great. Thanks.

Any NFL/general sports fans want a fun experience?

Some e-friends of mine started up a Discord chat channel. Tons of topics besides sports with a wealth of knowledge in each ie: stocks, hobbies, politics (if that's your thing), gaming, etc. Live sports chats are their wheelhouse however.

Interesting sports(sports-related) locations visited

Here’s another off-season thread to run with
What are some cool places everyone’s been in reference to sports. Doesn’t have to be a venue necessarily.
Here are some of mine:

NFL Hall of Fame(Canton, OH)
Fawcett Stadium(now known as Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium) Canton, OH

Stadium sits right next to the Hall of Fame.
Seats 23,000
Current home of Canton-McKinley High and Walsh College football

Paul Brown Tiger Stadium(Massillon, OH)
Seats 16,392
Home to Massillon-Washington Tigers(rivals of Canton-McKinley) and subject of the 2001 documentary Go Tigers!
this was one of my favorites to explore.

Ratliff Stadium (Odessa, TX)
Seats 19,302
Home to Permian High Panthers(subject of book and movie Friday Night Lights)
As well as the Odessa High Bronchos and
UT-Permian Basin Falcons

Union-Tuttle Stadium(Tulsa, OK)
I visited before they tore it down a few years back to build the new one.
originally built in 1976 for 1.7 million
Home to Union High of Tulsa
Seated 11,000 at the time that I visited which was around 2013-2014

Hoosier Gym(Knightstown, IN)
Was the filming location for the home games of the fictional Hickory Huskers of the classic movie titled simply “Hoosiers”
I visited this place last July, got a tour and some photos and got to shoot around.
they’ve restored the gym to exactly how it was during the filming of the movie in 1985-86 with a few changes.
I also learned that their schedule is almost full during basketball season. Apparently high schools from all across the state will pay to play a game there.
they also have their own high school all star game that is hosted in the gym.

Memorial Fountain at Marshall University (Huntington, WV)
Built in memory of the 1970 Thundering Herd that sadly passed away in the plane crash. Was passing through and figured I would stop by. It was neat to see.

I’m sure there are a few that I’ve visited that have slipped my mind but that’s what I’ve got for now.

Colin Powell "I can no longer call myself a fellow Republican'

This stands out to me... Colin Powell “we need people who will speak the truth, who remember that they are here for our fellow citizens.” “They are here for our country. They are not here simply to be reelected again. Come on, guys. You can make it in private life if you don’t get reelected, but right now we need you to be real Americans who we can trust, who will tell the truth, who will argue on the basis of facts and not just argue on the basis of what their primary looks like,” he said.
