Week 1 COC picks

Remember about the COC and Ozark Conference, it wasn't until 1998 I believe when a COC and Ozark Conference school played a game against each other in football. I want to say it was Ozark vs Kickapoo but don't quote me on that as I don't have my Newspapers.com subscription anymore lol.
That's crazy to think the landscape has changed that much in 25 years, huh? Man, when I was in college back in the middle to late 90's, I remember the "northern edge" of Nixa being 14 and 160. Now there's an entire town north of there. I also remember driving down 160 to play softball and knowing there was a good 5+ miles between Springfield and Nixa. Same with leaving Ozark and driving toward Nixa on 14. Now you feel like you never leave one before getting to the other. I feel like it's a ton of growth in 25ish years.

Week 1 COC picks

Lol I remember that commercial and thinking it was so idiotic.

I think with Republic and those schools there probably had a similar situation as what we've got with WC, Carthage and Joplin. These schools played Parkwood and Memorial (or so I am told) but not so much after they combined. Back then Webb and Carthage, Neosho were way smaller but Joplin was the same size it is now. They didn't really see Joplin as a natural peer whereas now they do.

I don't know as much about SPS but my guess is they, like Joplin have traditionally been the larger schools in the area but with relatively flat enrollment.
It was so dumb...but here I am 25+ years later still remembering it. Ridiculous.

That second paragraph sums it up perfectly, at least IMHO. I feel like that's very similar to the dynamic of SPS and the Nixa/Ozark/Willard/Republic situations.

Survivor League

I think we’ve had one before. You pick one team to win each week (11 or 8 man). If that team wins you advance to play the next week. If your pick loses you are out of the contest. You may only pick a team once in the season. For instance, if you pick Webb City to win week one, you can’t pick them again the rest of the season. Get your pick each week before the game starts.

Whoever is running Harris's campaign has been nailing it.

I don't have a problem with it being recorded. I am disappointed that it is with Walz and not on her own.
I feel like taping it is important so that they are not giving up a night to do a live interview when they could be doing a rally in the evening and recording it in the morning or whatever.
MAGAs weren't crying about Trumpys interviews being taped. Weird.

Well I for one was disappointed to find out the interview will not be live.

Issue with Black uniforms!!!

For coaches shirts to me its not that big of deal, I know some coaches chose todo this so players in the game can pick them out.

However I agree, if your school colors do not have black or grey why wear them?

Funny thing back when Joplin had two high schools Parkwood and Memorial, old Dewey disliked the colors for Parkwood so he basically didn't use them.

Seneca has Blue as one of their school colors and I don't know if I have ever seen that color on a football uniform.

Issue with Black uniforms!!!

I am old fashioned, but unless your school has Black as one of your colors (Hazelwood W, Hazelwood Central, U. City, Lafayette as examples), your coaches should not be wearing black shirts nor should your team wear all black uniforms.

Is this just a STL problem or is it happening all over the state? Posted this on the StlToday website but no reaction, so am I just an old retired coach who always believed that your uniforms should be your school colors. White and Gray are acceptable, but for some reason I do not like the all black nor coaches for schools whose colors are say Blue and Gold and them wearing black shirts.

Let me hear your thoughts and I am back on this site to report on the STL, but really enjoy reading about the rest of the state.

Tonight is going to be awesome, high school football is back!!!
