South Iron head coach Dusty Dinkins
enters his 10th season leading the Panthers with optimism. A 20-8 season a
year ago included the Black River League title as well as a conference crown.
Check out what the Panthers, ranked No. 7 in the MBCA/MOsports
Pre-Season Basketball poll return this season.
"We will be looking to expand upon the
exciting finish to last year's season", commented Dinkins. "We feel that we have
a group of young men that understand what is needed to be successful at the
varsity level."
6-foot 1 inch senior Trevor Ruble returns for
the Panthers, along with 6-foot-3 inch junior Larenzo Cornell
and. 6-foot sophomore Austin Wilfong. Rounding out the Panthers starting
line up 5-foot-7 inch guard Marcus Hampton and 5-foot-11 inch Todd Sullivan will
be counted on.
"We will have a lot of options and
depth", added Dinkins. "We could have 7 to 9 players see playing time. We
also could be a very versatile team on the offensive end. We have several
players with the ability to make big impacts offensively. Defensively we have
seen this group have the ability to work extremely hard and be very solid."
Without a lot of size the Panthers will use pressure defense
as their young team grows early in the season. Opening in the Arcadia
Valley Thanksgiving tournament the young Panthers will be tested early.
