Yadi

After this latest concussion is it time for Yadi to move to 1st base?
This injury is an indictment of the contract extension if that is even being discussed, because he's not even a $10 M player as a 1B. A ton of his value is his defensive ability. His bat + horrendous foot speed are not good enough to be an every day 1B. You can't run a 1B out there who hits .270/.320/.440 who can't run faster than 6 miles an hour.

They have to try to figure out if he can play catcher, because he's not good enough to start over lots of guys we could play at 1B - there's no rational case to play him over Carp, for example. He's a warm body at that point.

Oh ok then.

How does Molina play 1B with any regularity over Jose Martinez or Matt Carpenter? He can't be good enough defensively at the position to overcome their clear advantages with the bat and on the base paths.

The average 1B in MLB hit .266/.349/.488 in 2017. The average catcher hit .247/.316/.411. Yadi is only an above average player against the latter comparator group (especially once defense is added.)
