I see a tie in class two in 1995. Any records less than 8-4 to win state?

2AJohn Burroughs (8–4–1) /Lexington (12–1–1)

I think Saint John finished 4-5 in the regular season a few years back and won Class 5
Just looked it up
In 2016, Vianney finished the season with a record of 9-5, and the Class 5 state championship trophy.
started the season with a win, then lost 4 straight, lost another game in the regular season as well to go 4-5
Then won their district, avenging a regular season loss to Chaminade in the district title game.
beat Staley 34-31 in the State Semis
Turbo clocked Zumwalt North for the title

I got confused since Vianney is rarely if ever called St. John. There were only two St. John schools. The one in KC closed in 81 the other in St. Louis closed in 2008 and neither ever played football.

In the 2009-2010 season, Lamar ended the regular season at 1-7. Reeled off 7 wins and lost in the semifinal to Maryville 21-7. I get it, not quite the question. But that was a very bizarre season.

What was Harrisonville the last year they won the title? I think they started 0-3? I can’t really remember.
2016 they sustained a number of key injuries especially to their star RB and were wiped out 49-0 at Platte County in mid-regular season. Everyone wrote them off then they went on that infamous run ending with wins in the playoffs over Webb at Cardinal Stadium, NWalls' juggernaut Parkway North then held off Kearney in the title game in Springfield, a place that should host these title games in the near future..............much more intimate environment than MU.

Careful... You'll get RawMeat in a tizzy..!

Didn't win the state championship, but I believe Bolivar went 3-7 and lost to St. Genevieve in the 3A championship in 1992.

Very familiar. I was there.
I can remember when Coach Bailey brought that first group of kids up to Adrian for 7 on 7. I thought 'That's a class 2 team??!?!'

A coach that I have a ton of respect for told me when those freshmen got to be juniors they're going to be salty.

He was right.

I may be wrong but a lot of people think Baileys second year they didn’t win a game was his first. They tend to forget about that first season.

that was the year he kinda laid the law down iirc.

That's a lesson for small town school boards.

Ste. Gen's toughest game that year was against the class 1 champ.
Truth. And I was there. Not an easy ticket. Most of Madison, St Francois, and Ste Gen counties were on hand for that one. That one and the 94 game were just stupid fun.

Are those the 3 counties valle pulls from?

(I know St F county is because it used to be on their website).

I'm not sure if there are other private schools near there on the Illinois side. That's why i was asking.
Man, that's a tough one. I THINK Chester had/has a private. But that's a big think. Had a cousin that grew up in Steeleville and went to a private there, but I think it was only K-8. Come to think of it, pretty sure the Chester private I'm thinking of is K-8 as well. There are a TON of Lutheran K-8's (Catholic too, I think) in that general area. Big time German river communities. They never really had a home after 8th grade. I remember at Perryville, we'd get a ton (relative ton for the size of Perryville) of "new" 9th graders that either went to K-8 in Altenburg (small K-8 district in East Perry Co) or Concordia (was a K-8 private in the same general area). Not many wound up at St. Vincent, from what I recall. Those were Catholic kids and typically attended SVE. Valle did always seem to get some public school kids, IIRC, but I could be wrong. Man, I'm telling you, those German and French river communities are a different world. At Perryville, I can remember frequenting those bars in East Perry Co and walking in and seeing plenty of HS students just sitting around eating a burger and drinking beer. Lol. It freaked me out. I grew up 30-45 miles from it, but my home town didn't even have a grocery store that sold beer when I was growing up let alone a restaurant that served it. I was in heaven there, other than we sucked and I made no money.

We never got any at No 32, I know that. Why anyone would want to leave the home of Popeye is beyond me.

Did kids from Chester go to both SV and Valle?
I've never posted on here before, but I've looked at the site for years. I'm in my 70s. I attended Valle in the 60s as did my 2 siblings! My 2 kids went to Valle and one of my sibling's children went to a small Catholic Grade School in the County then went to Ste Gen. Public, the catholic grade school they went to is now closed. My 2 grandchildren graduated from Ste Gen. Public they also attended one of the Catholic grade schools until 5th grade. -I can say for sure no kids from Chester Illinois ever attended Valle. When Valle's enrollment in High School started dropping, they tried to attract kids from St Joseph's at Farmington thus the St. Francois County mention on their web site. I know at one time they also had a sign up along Hwy 32 that Valle is serving the students of Ste Genevieve and St Francois Counties. I think they even sent folks over to talk to parents about attending Valle, but it never worked out and as far as I know. I can honestly say I don't think any ever came to Valle! There're only two little Catholic grade schools still left in the county St. Joseph at Zell which has PK to 5th grade. I think there's about 50 kids or less there. St Agnes Bloomsdale runs PK to 8th grade they list enrollment as 138. There used to be Catholic Grade Schools at St Mary, Ozara and Weingarten but they've been closed for years.

Staley pee pee'd that game away. Stopped giving the ball to the Simone winning RB, Vianney took full advantage.
