I think that's being somewhat disrespectful to Jrod.In the late 90’s I worked with a guy from Joplin who had quickly grown tired of Webb’s success (first state title was 89 I believe). He said “don’t worry, their time of mediocrity will come, and we’ll see them put back in their place and they’ll get what’s coming to them.”
Today, he’s old and gray and feeble. And Webb is entering like their 34th consecutive year of being feared and respected as a program.
I don’t think the program is going to fade away with the departure of J-Rod. Not after a third of a century of prominence.
To think someone is going to come in and just keep the machine rolling implies he wasn't one of the best head coaches around.
Webb went 6-4 and lost in first round of districts this year.
I've seen lots of legends retire or move on. I can't remember one time the program stayed the same or got better.
