I truly can’t imagine how I would have felt if they had cancelled the football season my senior year. Devastating. Personally, it would have changed my entire life. They have to do everything they can to prevent that.

My dad would have had me working 50 hours a week during the school year for one thing.
I agree but some kids already lost their senior year of Spring sports and a few lost a final 4.

One school I am aware of is considering either the every other day or the AM/PM scheduling so they would only have 1/2 the kids at a time. How would fall sports practices work in that schedule?

I assume getting all athletes into PM classes, maybe. Scheduling issues.

That is what I'm hearing as well, and also the reason athletics might be bagged for the next year. That would be awful.

No, I almost choked to death chortling at the hypocrisy.

I chortled loud in the 90s when the NEA pushed Mel Carnahan to finally set a minimum teacher salary in Missouri, when there were still some teachers being paid only $13,000 a year. Missouri was around 48th in education funding and moved up to be respectable. They also helped us get one of the most well managed pension plans in the country. Thank you NEA.

I remember when Warrenton had a split schedule in the 90’s with half the kids at school in the morning and half in the afternoon. They were able to still field a competitive team. Not sure how the split schedule affected practice.

Time to get things back to normal and plan on a normal school year and sports. Hell there may never be a cure as there isn't a cure for many things. We just going to end life as we know for a sickness that has a 99+% survival rate? Lord I hope not. Not to mention that High Schools kids are about the least vulnerable. None of this crap makes any sense.

Wasn't Warrenton's split schedule holding elementary and high school at different times? Their problem was number of classrooms, not limiting the number of students in a class.

It takes one. What will you do. I've had a couple players die during a season. Not football related, but still difficult. One gets it, because there will be one, and dies what are you going to do? A lot of us are isolated but it will open up. I was by our hospital today and the covid unit is a tent outside and they loaded a guy up on a gurney and hauled him away in a ambulance.

I have heard there are some schools holding summer classes. I have heard some school districts have set a date when some limited on field non contact summer football and weights will be allowed with some limitations. What are you guys hearing in your areas?

Add Marquette to the list of cancelling June sports activities. Probably will see a chain reaction of this in St. Louis very soon.

Our school (North Callaway) had graduation this past Thursday night on it's originally scheduled night...outdoors with a limit of only 4 tickets per graduate.

Hallsville has gotten the green light to start weightlifting back up on June 1st...per a facebook post from Coach Justin Conyers...and they are having their team camp on June 23rd.

This is the earliest report of any school opening back up that that I have heard. Last Friday it was reported that there were NO NEW CASES of COVID-19 in Boone, Callaway, and Cole Counties in Central Missouri.

There were a dozen or so cases reported in Audrain County...but all from the same hog facility.

I am optimistic that more schools in our area will be opening back up soon.

Basically most of Missouri should be able to get back to football. Kansas City and St. Louis have work to do despite positive numbers in the past couple of weeks in St. Louis at least.

Many schools in SWMO are getting stuff going in the weight room with guidelines in place. 25 limit, taking temperatures, kids provide own water, etc. I know that most of the HS baseball programs got their off season/summer practices started today.

Even if kids never get sick from the virus, the schools are still employers and must protect their employees.......teachers, aides, office personnel, bus drivers, custodians, cafeteria workers, coaches....

Nobody cares about teachers, aides, office personnel, bus drivers, custodians, cafeteria workers, or coaches.

Parents want their kids out of the house and baby sitters have a job to do.

Most schools in Jackson county will start restricted workouts on June 15th. I am on a zoom today with staff and we will put our plans in place as to how to attack this crazy way of practicing.
Late July is the goal for full padded and scrimmages.
My son plays comp baseball in Jackson county and we have to travel 80 miles rd trip to practice. No tournaments in Jackson county until at the earliest July 5th.
Middle School sports are also a big ? for the late summer and fall.
