SEC, two major cities in a state where Mizzou is the only FBS football school. There should be some quality coaches interested in the job. Wonder if Gary Patterson would be interested.

It's not going to be the same without him out there and the rest of this coaching staff. But surely they wont hire within will they? Feel like that would be a bad move

Not exactly a step up if you are Patterson, but who knows. They will get some quality people want the job

I would hope Rhoades has a list in his top desk drawer of 10 people he would want. Every AD should have that list and update it yearly. College sports is strange and you should always be prepared.

I believe Rhoades hired Tom Herman at Houston,
who's currently 9 and 0 in his first season. Very possibly Herman would be on that list.

Wouldn't it be awesome if MU went out and hired Mark Mangino....

My understanding is the Golden Corral is out of business in CoMo.

All kidding aside the guy could coach a little. I'm not sure his abrasive persona would go over well in CoMo, given the events of the last week.

Steck come back home.
Pink has developed so many good assistants. Hire from within.

If Alden were still around as AD, I would say sounds good. If they were to hire within it still wouldn't be Rhoades guy, not sure the promotes coach would have a long leash. I think Rhoades will hire from outside, he will want his guy. Not sure Steck is the guy either.

VaTech, Miami just a few who will throw big money at a coach as well
I'm anything but an MU lemming, but I truly think the MU job is just as attractive...if not better, than both of those jobs. Also considering Odom's relationship with Fuente, and that he's a midwest dude...seems like a solid fit. I'm really interested to see how much different a Mack Rhoades hiring process differs from that of Alden.

How much $$$ is Mizzou willing to spend to get the "right guy ?" They will be competing with a number of D1 schools to get the pick of the litter. This whole process will be very interesting...

You think MU is as attractive as the University of Miami. Seriously? Why because of the freakin SEC? Come on. Miami has lets see a History, beaches, babes and once again a history. MU has been on the rise because of Pinkel the last 5 years or so but with the recent events has fell on its face in my personal opinion. Who would want to deal with that crap? Pinkel may very well be bad enough that because of his cancer he is retiring but Im guessing the ridiculousness shown this last week helped make that decision much easier. Houston to MU sure MU over Miami Oh hell no....

Miami is attractive I'm sure. But I have heard their facilities aren't great and the stadium is off campus.

Army has some pretty good history too. It doesn't make a bit of difference if it's not recent. Mizzou is competitive, Miami isn't. Miami has the advantage in location, but that's about it.

Also would be happy with:
Dino Babers - HC - Bowling Green
Matt Campbell - HC - Toledo
Ken Niumatatolo - HC - Navy
Matt Rhule - HC - Temple
Bronco Mendenhall - HC - BYU
Luke Fickell - DC - Ohio St.
Lincoln Riley - OC - Oklahoma
Willie Fritz - HC - Georgia Southern

Haters won't admit Mizzou is a great job. I bet the hire is better than a 'blueblood' did last year

I truly do. I totally get the geography of it all, I lamented on that on the Haith hire. But, IMO, football is a different animal. And the SEC does make a big diff. Lot more conference/media $$$ now available. MU facilities are much better. The U isn't the U anymore. Everybody sorta/kinda has to follow the rules these days. It's not the late 80s/early 90s when they were in their prime bringing every great player in regardless of their situation. Plus, they don't have the recruiting juice they once did. Their history isn't recent enough to garner traction with high school athletes today. And their facilities are a mess, spread out all over the place. And I think the biggest issue is the support isn't obviously what it once was, but the expectations are the same. It's not a horrible job, just don't think it's really anything all that special.
