They called up another newby today and it looks like he might see some action. Wacha hasn't looked too good after the rain delay. They better score a bunch of runs again, Cubs already won.Why is Mayers on the team? This is just insane.
3 1/2 back again. The starting pitching has gone to pot lately and the hitters left a runner on 3rd with no outs last night and runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs tonight. They called up another newby today and it looks like he might see some action. WOW! that's the pot calling the kettle black if I've ever seen it. In the Central this season a joke can get in and we all know what can happen if you just get in. The pitching staff is in shambles at the moment, the offense will be alright for now but it was frustrating to leave runners on 3rd with NO outs! Those they say a SO is just another out just ain't paying attention. A couple of ground balls to the right side would have scored at least 2 runs, and probably 3, in the game last night. That would have made it a very different game.Im really not sure why you get yourself worked up bro. Fowler is the cleanup man and Yadi bats 5th. If that is a playoff lineup, the playoffs are a joke.

That team won 83 games, won in the playoffs and won the WS. They didn't just pick up players for WS.When u get in "anything can happen" if you have a Pujols and Berkman to get on base for Freese to drive them in. Stop dreaming.
Those guys didnt K 30% of their atbats like the "launch angle" beauties we have now.

I was talking about the team that got in the playoffs with 80 something wins and won it all! They didn't have those folks. This division is weak and if you get in you don't need many pitchers. Right now I don't know that would be but you only need 3 guys to be on and have some bullpen help which also a problem. They have shown they can score runs a lot lately.Wrong team Berkman was in 2011.
Didn't have what folks? That '06 team had Jimmy Ballgame, The Mang, and Rolen in 3/4/5 holes. And Encarnacion in the 6 hole. Three for sure, and arguably a fourth, better hitters than anyone in the current lineup. That team struggled because the rotation was garbage. Waino was coming off surgery, Mulder was pitching hurt, Marquis sucked, Suppan held it together with duck tape and bailing twine, and Weaver was bad until the playoffs (after picking him up for the stretch run). That team scored, just couldn't keep anyone else from scoring.I was talking about the team that got in the playoffs with 80 something wins and won it all! They didn't have those folks. So they just decided not to suck in the playoffs? They got hot enough to get there, then stayed hot enough to win a WS. Same could happen with this bunch. They have scored a LOT of runs in the last couple of weeks and it wasn't just against bad teams or bad pitchers. Cubs pitching hasn't anything to brag about most of this season and that's who they have beat to get anywhere.Didn't have what folks? The pitchers decided not to suck in the playoffs, yes. Or got hot, however you want to put it. Lightening in a bottle from guys like Weavs, Reyes, Suppan, Kinney, Tyler Johnson, and Waino (as the closer after Izzy got hurt). The lineup was always there (well after Jimmy got healthy). The things that plague this team have been there all season. Sporadic offense, bad defense, sophomoric base running, and a horrid bullpen. With no moves, I don't see that getting any better. Especially with Rosie likely done for the year. The 2006 team had additions that helped their weakness (Weavs, Reyes, Waino, and Kinney come immediately to mind). That's the biggest difference I see.So they just decided not to suck in the playoffs? They got hot enough to get there, then stayed hot enough to win a WS. Same could happen with this bunch. Ah...Jeff "Dream" Weaver. Had a really beastly run for us in that postseason. Wanted to get paid for that performance afterwards and thankfully we told him "no, thanks for the championship, but no" and he signed with Seattle for like $10M.Btw...ANYTIME Weavs gets mentioned...even if it's by myself...I feel obligated.
And I cried a little. I really think he and Dunc were a dream pairing. That guys sinker/slurve combo were just filthy when right.Ah...Jeff "Dream" Weaver. "Dream" pairing...I see what you did there. But in all seriousness, you might be right. He was filthy when he was on, but he wasn't great until the playoffs and was just ok down the stretch to end the regular season. I'd like to think in another life he turned into Woody Williams 2.0 for us.And I cried a little. I really think he and Dunc were a dream pairing.
