What teams are impressing?

Talked to a few of the coaches and fans at the Lincoln summer league Tuesday night. Also watched a few games. Jeff City girls play hard but they are going to struggle mightily. Linthicum was out but even with her in the line up they will struggle against their schedule.

Cap City is better than last year but still going to struggle.

Battle was there with their new coach and they looked okay all things considered. I would say they are still an average big school at best.

Blair Oaks beat Fatima by 2. Fatima led most the game playing 5 in 5 out. Not sure why Fatima coach does this. About the only team I see that does this anymore. Both teams looked solid but not great. Graduation was hard on both programs.

Helias looks really darn strong with great guard play and the Koelling kid inside. Depth will be an issue with them.

Smith Cotton is a project.
Rolla played 4 games in the league. They beat Jeff, Battle, Smith Cotton and Helias with 5 varsity girls and a couple freshman.

So the fatima girls coach used to coach boys at Linn?

I do not know where the girls coach came from at Fatima. He was the assistant boys coach at Fatima for a year before he took the girls job.

The chemistry issues? Are you referencing the parent issues because IMO the girls get along pretty well. It is the parents that cause the problems.

Otterville is out of my area but don't they usually win 20+ games then get hammered in districts? They should play a tougher schedule instead of trying to be state ranked.

No clue. Doesn’t the Kaysinger have 12 schools and a tournament? Not much room for schedule stuff with that big of a league. Someone said the injury bug got them last year, but only lost to Tipton and Leeton. Who knows about this year. I just saw the Hickman game because I was watching the neighboring court’s game.

I do know Otterville was good last year but were hamstrung by injuries. They are class one so they are up and down depending on the year.

Another Lake Area team is gonna be good…Stover. They are big and athletic. The freshman move in is dang good too. Not sure who will be the coach, though.

Fatima will be solid, again. They are well coached. Robertson’s daughter can really play. Always in a brutal district though.

Blue eye girls will knock Miller out on class 2. The Bulldogs are deeper this year and the girls are all bought in.

I think they will be a .500 team. Graduated an two time all state PG and another starter inside. Only saw them once this summer but was not super impressed.

Agree on the Robertson kid. One of the biggest and most athletic kids I have seen around for a loooong time.

Blue Eye is on another planet. Great coach, great players, and they can play their style vs just about anyone.

Come on...Fatima will be top 10 to start the season. Quit downplaying your team MIDMO.

We’re they not “bought in” last year? Also depth is overrated. Blue Eye will be good because they are good. Them and Miller should be a heck of a game. They play in December.

Idk if Stover will be able to overcome the new coach and the youth. Got to love the dome they built down there. One of the nicest small school floors you will find.

IF they end up ranked to start the season in class 4 there are some serious issues in the voting. Not downplaying just a opinion. Owensville, BO, St. James are all better at this point.

Agree, especially since they were class 3 last year.

Have not seen them this summer, but Blue Eye is loaded. Everyone back from the Final Four team. Some really good Class 2 Girls basketball in SWMO, so it wont be easy, but I would not pick against them

Only real threat to Blue Eye in Class 2 in SWMO is Miller, if they move back to Class 2 as expected.

Ellington and Wellington-Napoleon are still loaded, they were Class 2 FF teams who return most everyone as well.

All of those teams are in the same district (or were) lol

There is a video on her Twitter playing in a Webb City uniform last December.
Correct she played last year at Webb. She is raw and will take time to develop but you can’t teach her size. She will be the biggest girl on the court in every game they play this year.

I am concerned about their guard play. I would press them to not allow them to setup and give it to the girl inside. The young guards are going to have to grow up fast as they no longer have the guard they had last year that used her speed to break most presses.

I think they struggle this year but the next couple years could be very solid for them.

They could be set up to win that district when Buerge graduates from CJ in 2 years.
