You could go really old school and everyone’s season would be done after the eighth or ninth game.

This is fine. Just increase the strength of schedule component.

8 team districts. Round Robin in weeks 4-10.
Only district champions play on. Simple. Concise. Over by Thanksgiving.

Here is how you do it.

1. Split public and private..

2. Public you need nine classes to be fair.

3. Split the nine classes into Eight (8) team districts.

4. There should then be a corresponding state bracket for each finish.

First place plays in the platinum bracket.
Second place plays in the gold bracket
Third place plays in the silver bracket
Fourth place plays in the bronze bracket
Fifth place plays in the diamond bracket
Sixth place plays in the Husker bracket
Seventh place plays in the Green bracket
Eighth place plays in the Consolation bracket.

5. Each bracket is double elimination.

Bingo!!

Keep the current point system, but tweak it.

Reduce the points you gain for playing up, or max out the number of points you can get for playing up.

8 team districts like now,

In week 10:

D1 #1 seed plays D2 #8 seed
D1 #2 seed plays D2 #7 seed
and so on. This gets you to 32 teams after week 10.

Also you add the district seeding points of the teams you beat to your point total.

Line up the seeds according to points and,,,

In week 11:

D1D2 match up winners #1 seed plays D3D4 match up winners #8 seed and so on.

This gets you 16 after week 11.

Repeat the process, you are now down to 8 after week 12.

Play out the bracket from there.

The big advantage to this is it allows good teams in stacked districts to continue to advance.

My tweak would be keep the current system but change each class to 16 districts instead of 8. 3 to 4 teams in each one.

It would make districts two weeks, then the state playoffs would start in what now is the district championship week with sectionals.

My Honest opinion is keep it the same. I have 3 issues with this playoff format

1. good teams going up against other good teams in districts.

2. The other issue i been seeing on here is the blowouts, 1vs 8 2 vs7 3 vs 6 etc. i really don't care about the blowouts because the 7, 8 and sometimes 6 seeds get blow out 60% to 70% of their regular season games anyway!!!

3. Last Mshsaa itself, whoever does the districts at Mshsaa is Clueless. i am very Irritated how they did Class 4 this year even last year.

Looks like keep it the same is winning. Another example that the loudest voice does not represent the consensus. They just like to hear themselves talk (or see themselves write). Now carry on.

Most people just don’t like change. Obviously this is a pretty hot topic on the board with many opinions. The poll was simply to see where many on the board lean.

I look at as there are more posters that would want to see something different but are pretty diverse on the direction it should go.

Not sure why you take such great issue in people voicing their opinion though.

TOP 4 FROM EACH DISTRICT ENTER PLAYOFF AT END OF REGULAR SEASON.

EVERYONE ELSE: ONE FINAL CROSS DISTRICT BOWL GAME. POOL TEAMS. CROSS DISTRICT 1 VS 2 , 3 VXS 4, 5 VS 6 AND 7 VS 8. DONE.

EVERYONE KNOWS THAT NKC IS NOT LOSING TO ST JOE CENTRAL THIS WEEK. AND THEY KNOW WILLIAM CHRISMAN DOESN'T HAVE A CHANCE IN HELL VS PLATTE COUNTY. IT IS DUMB. NEEDLESS.

I don’t take issue with anyone voicing their opinion. Apparently that is how you perceived my comment. I just see this as a common thing with social media. The loudest voice does not always represent the majority. It was just an observation.

Whatever happens will be the majority vote of the schools. And they don’t want to eliminate conferences or disrupt conference schedules. So any proposal that does that is dead on arrival.

So Albany is ranked #3 in the state with their only loss to the #1 team and they should not go to the playoffs?

My vote is to take the top 32 using current rating system. Top 4 are #1 seeds, next 4 are #2 seeds, etc. Matchup 1-8, 2-7, etc in Round 1. Have matchups minimize travel. Then reseed 16 winners the next week and put together bracket based on seedings where higher seed gets home game each round.

new idea for Playoff system. First Eliminate Districts, replaced it with 4 Brackets, The 4 Bracket winners in will meet in the semifinals, also keep the point system and the playoff format. do this for each class except for Class 6.

example
" If there is a bracket that's in their region where they're are already 16 Teams near each other they will be reseeded by the points system"

Class 1 16 teams
Bracket 1
Southeast vs STL/Central

Bracket 2 (16) teams
Southwest/ Southwest Central

Bracket 3 (16) teams
Northeast vs North Central

Bracket 4 (16) teams
KC Area vs Northwest

Who gets to determine which teams go in which bracket?
SWMO claims about half of MO and a bit of the surrounding states too.

Class 4 is more easier to explained since they have 54 teams. But some brackets will have more teams than other's

The first bracket for class 4

Bracket 1 (15)
Southeast/South St. louis Teams will be reseeded and (7) on one side of bracket and (8) on the other, same with bracket 2&4

Bracket 2 (15)
Central St. Louis /North St. louis/Hannibal

Bracket 3 (10)
Jeff City, West Plains,Marshfield, Hillcrest, Logan-Rogerville vs Bolivar, Carl Junction, McDonald County, Monett, Nevada

Bracket 4 (13)
KC area Schools/Marshall/Kirksville

This is pretty much the same as the 80's system

i was born after the 80's. So did 80's System work or was it a bad system?
It was bad. At least one really good Macon team got snubbed with a one loss season. There was one in the '70s that went undefeated that got snubbed as well. One thing to keep in mind, there were only 4 classes and we were 3A then, so bigger schools almost always got the nod.

I'm being bias but i think the 80's format will work today.

it will help with travel, it will also help teams not matching up early in the districts, it will also help the best teams not played each other in their district like it is now.

Class 4

Bracket 4
East side of bracket
1. Kearney
2. Lincoln College Prep
3. Van Horn
4. Kirksville
5. Excelsior Springs
6. Marshall

West side of bracket
1. Smithville
2. Center
3. Grandview
4. Harrisonville
5. Warrensburg
6. Marshall
7. Winnetonka

It was bad. The points system back then was wack. But the system you proposed its exactly what it was back then. You had point rankings and the top 2 from each geographic district went to the playoffs.

Macon was in the same boat Eldon was back then. Played in a conference that was primarily Class 2A, you had to schedule up just to have a chance. Eldon had to keep Camdenton and Marshfield on the schedule because they were Class 4A just to have a chance.
