Webb Carthage predictions?

I predict some local businesses need to step up and sponsor this one to be broadcast on KSNF. Thousands, perhaps millions, of local consumers would watch and your product or service would sell like hot cakes, as the saying goes.

Carthage Stadium won’t be big enough to seat everyone. How often has that happened in MO high school football this season?

With the new MSHSAA rules about postseason broadcasts this isn’t even possible unless the local stations paid the $10 for every household that watched the game. Even last night KNEO had to send their stream directly to MSHSAA and to watch it you had to pay them $10 before you could watch the KNEO broadcast.

I heard that Carl Junction already tried to offer MSHSAA a huge lump sum of money to pay for their community to watch for free (basically pay for everyone) and was told no.

I would have a lot less of a problem with mshsaa if they had invested in a streaming service and were providing this on their own platform. But profiting from using local providers resources does not set well with me.

This is correct

I find this extremely greedy. If CJ paying -then maybe the only money lost is from opponents. It's not like MSHSAA is doing the broadcast! If they have people willing to broadcast and pay for game to help out and uplift an entire community during a pandemic (or even without pandemic) --WHY NOT LET THEM!! 😡

MSHSAA is very very crooked. Everybody knows it. And the liberal news won’t even talk about it. We were rolling along with this season, winning, and suddenly more rules show up. Where are these rules coming from? Fraud. We will sue. Very crooked. Stop the charges now! Landslide victory for the fans. Everybody knows it.

I said pretty much the same thing yesterday to a friend of mine who is an admin at a school.
he agreed that MSHSAA has really dropped the ball this year and that with everything COVID related that this is not the year for them to be charging when half the state hasn’t even been allowed to go see a game this year due to capacity limitations set by conferences or county health departments.

That was creatively hilarious. Touché.

Is KSNF a radio station, or TV?

Agreed, if they want a monopoly on streaming then they need to actually provide the service (and a good quality one) instead of letting others do the work so they can try to sell it.

They were probably banking on everyone just doing their regular streaming and just running it through their platform and they would sit back and cash in without doing anything. Maybe some schools did? Carthage did not so the result of this bone headed policy change meant no stream at all for that game yesterday. So mshsaa still got no streaming money but pissed off a ton of people in the process.

The Carthage O has been unstoppable all season but the number of big plays given up on D has been alarming. They haven't really let anyone grind down the field much and the D line has been very good. They have the talent to win but of course they've had that several times over the years and always seem to panic and blow it.

I'm hoping Carthage decides to enact a visiting fan limit after the fits being thrown last year because Carthage wouldn't let them take over the student section.

C-town will have to play near perfect football on every facet of their game. Something they haven't even gotten close to doing so far this year. Webb has been playing better football over every game the last 4/5 weeks. Nixa was their test and they came out ready for a fight and put Nixa away within the first quarter and half. Webb's offense is scoring on running and get this - passing! The defense has gotten better every week and they are defending the pass better than they did last year. Webb!

Webb seems to be the more consistent team but Carthage is damn good and has one of the best qbs in the state, he reminds me alot of former k state qb Collin Klein. Should be a good one!

As much as I'd like to see anyone besides Webb City win their district for once, it's probably going to be the same old story. Webb City is just too good and too deep.

To me the biggest difference this year is the level of discipline especially over the past few weeks. WC seems to be playing almost mistake free. Carthage yes is very good and they have won all their games but have played several games very sloppy and let several opponents hang around way long longer than necessary.

The other thing is that Carthage has been particularly vulnerable to giving up big plays this year - some by design and some just accidental busted plays that the Carthage D doesn't seem prepared to contain. The Tigers are talented enough to overcome this against everyone they faced so far but you can't do that against Webb City and expect to win. If they play 100% focused (and not nervous) I think they are as likely as anyone to beat the Cardinals.

Now, if Carthage is able to pick off a pass somewhere or force Webb City into some of the turnover woes they've had earlier it may be a different story. I do think Carthage has the talent to beat Webb City but when it's all said and done I think this game probably goes Webb City's way and Carthage will be once again a top team in the state that gets eliminated early by virtue of being located next to a football magnet school that never has a down year. But we shall see!
