WC vs. CJ What will this game look like

Before week one, the pre-game talk about CJ-Webb was similar. CJ fans had some confidence following last season's 14-7 loss. Some Webb fans were cautiously optimistic - others were quite confident or even cocky. And CJ went on to win 23-7.

The banter here isn't all that different.

As for me, it is not shocking at all to see them going head to head again in week 12, and if anybody called it a tossup I'd definitely agree with that.

If somebody wants to take Webb as 14 point favorites, I'd put a basket of Hackett Hot Wings on it and take the Bulldogs.

Im your Huckelberry!!! But not interested in wings whats your poison if I give the 14?

I've come to two different conclusions, "Flint222" is either someone from Carl Junction who just loves to talk mad Sh!t, or it's possible we may have a young Cardinal digging for bulletin board material. (I'm not saying that's who this is or making accusations, but you never know.) Just seems a little odd that they just started posting on this exact thread and I've never seen them on any others these last few years.
I would assume the likelihood of it being a player is pretty low since account was made in 2014 but you never know.

Flint is quiet today because the reality of his absurdness is setting in. 58 hours until we the teams get to figure it out.

Nope. Been reading for years. Still reading. Just leeting your birdies chirp from now to Friday. After that, you'll be crickets or justifing the loss.

Friday night around 10 pm on hear will be fun. Cant wait.!

Now dadgummit flint, you forgot to stamp it!

He will be flip flopping about 7:30, then another flip around 8:00, and finally at 9:30 he will make his final decision. Je just hopes it is CJ on top. He is a true politician.

Getting back to the game, if anyone cares about it more than they care about Flint:

Beyond the typical “turnovers, big plays, injuries, weather” kind of talk, I see some of the keys to the game being these:

For Carl Junction

·Will the QB be on? If Tabor is missing his targets, CJ becomes one-dimensional and Webb’s D most likely shuts them down.

·Punt team – seriously, CJ will be punting more this week than they have all year, and the punting game looked a little shaky last week with one fumbled snap and another blocked punt. Even the distance of the kicks is down – CJ needs a solid performance here.

·Trick plays – what does Coach Buck have up his sleeve? He always seems to introduce something new that the fans haven’t seen all year.

For Webb City

·Can the O-Line keep CJ’s D out of the Cardinals’ backfield? Watching HUDL highlights of game one, the Bulldogs wreaked havoc and forced several of those WC fumbles.

·Youth – Webb has had several underclassmen develop into offensive playmakers – guys who weren’t even noticed on the roster back in week one when these two teams met. Can they now be the difference-makers?

·Coaching – no doubt Coach Rod will have his D ready for every play CJ has been running, so can CJ block well enough to spring themselves free for some nice gainers?

Can't say enough about the underclassmen...no matter what happens Friday, the future is still very bright at Webb City.

As to Webb:
No
Doubt it
No not coach Rod, its coach Smith's D....and yes they will.

I would say CJ's o line is the weakest part of the team. We will win that battle. The only question is can our dbs contain their receivers or can we get a pass rush that will change the timing.

From what I have seen of CJ this year. Pass rush is rarely an issue. Not because the O-line is good at pass protection, but because they get the ball out so quick. Most of CJ's passing game is timing. Coverage will be more important for Webb City.

You are probably right.

Would you say CJ is a 60% run team and a 40% pass team? Anyone who watches them consistently.

Pretty close % i would think. If you take away bubble/stay screens its like 75% Run i believe but they will throw about 5-10 a game so that is an extension of run game.

When you compare WC & CJ statically - WC: 4,130 tot. offense - CJ: 3,294. TD's - WC: 53, CJ: 36 (18 of those by Weston, much like WP with Hoopes - of course no one has stopped him yet, so if WC stops him, that puts some real pressure on the rest of the team to score or move the ball). Interception - CJ holds the edge 16 to 9. Will that make a difference Friday night - possibly, especially if WC decides to become a passing team all of a sudden. Speaking of passing: WC: 1,151, CJ: 1,619, per game it's - WC: 104.6, CJ: 179.9. Of course Webb has all those fumbles, but over the last 4 games they have virtually cut them out. So, who's going to win - Webb has the grudge and now has the confidence. I agree, with what was posted early - Refs and inadvertent whistles and calling back a touchdown for WC the whole night might have been totally different. Webb by 14!

I don't believe your statistics are correct. I can't imagine that CJ only averages 274 yards a game??????

think about it 12 games 3296?? You just said they average 180 passing and the Weston kid averages over 100 rushing. This doesn't take into affect the other guys rushing.

Webbies' fumbles will be the teams downfall tom night. Got to looking at the stats from Maxpreps. Last good defense the Webbies played they lost the ball 5 times. Almost gave the game to Noesho. Webbies will tell you they have not lost it in the last 3 games, but whats that saying? Wouldnt call West Plains, Marsh and Branson great defenses - lol. Overall, the Webbies have given up 33 fumbles, 22 lost. Against good defenses, they lost it 8 times against my boys (7 fumbles, 1 int), 4 against Cargthage (3 fumbles, 1 int) a 1 costly fumble and 2 INT in loss against Ozark and the 5 fumbles against Neosho in a geme they probably should have lost.

What does this mean?

Against good defenses, Webb lays the ball on the ground.

Which they will do friday night.

Soyo you can SEAL it. STAMP it. SIGN it. SEND it home to momma.

Unless they change their tendencies that should bode well for WC and mean that we will have a low scoring/close game.

Can't argue with that other than some of the personnel has changed. Same can be said that CJ has struggled against good defenses by a lack of being able to move the ball. I have said many times that the last good defense either team has faced is Ozark.

You know it, I know it, everybody knows it.

Believe me, believe me.

Believe all you want but you know deep down theres a itty bitty voice of doubt telling you this is CJs year. You know it, I know it, everybody knows it.

STAMP IT!

well it looks like there's no reason to even line em up tomorrow. Wish flint wouldn't have spoiled the ending for us. Guess we can all stay home and start saving stamp money for when CJ's dynasty is over in 2020.
