Waino has nothing. Lynn should have started.

Matheny should have shut him down. he is throwing an absurd number of curve balls.
He is afraid to throw his fastball. I can't imagine how mad I would be if I bought tickets to this game.

The defense let him down at least 3 times to ramp up the pitch count early. Not what you need when you know he doesn't have the good stuff. Not sure it makes much difference, they can't do much with Bumgarner.

I was there Ducky and was yelling from the 2nd inning on to get Wacha up, but the bottom is that as bad as Waino pitched he could have escaped with some solid defense behind him. This was a winnable game we just didn't do enough to win it. Tony Cruz as your big 7th inning pinch hitter. Think about that. Going tomorrow and I will bring home a winner!!!.

Cards weren't going to win regardless of who was pitching when they don't score any runs.

Anemic offense at best, and I agree about Cruz. Really, that's the best option?

A 3 run homer would have been nice but they needed a base hit with runner and 2nd and 3rd. The no call on the balk really sucked. If that call is made a run scores, another runner moves to 3rd and you never know what happens to the pitcher after a mistake like that. He may be distracted long enough to make a mistake on the next pitch and you have at least a 1 run game. All that adds up and puts a LOT more pressure on the pen. The Cardinals are not alone in not scoring against Bumgarner in a playoff game. He set a new record for innings not allowing a run on the road in a playoff game. Wainwright was charged with 2 earned runs but the botched DP directly contributed to one of those. Wong seems to be able to make the fantastic play but struggles with the routine plays at very bad times. I'm sure nobody expected to sweep this series but they sure better win one tonight before they head west. The so called home field advantage of having the first two and last two at home goes way down even if you split the first two at home.

Never been a big Wong fan. He will probably be an ok player. but he does make huge mistakes and picks very bad times to do it. Last night was another killer you got to turn that DP and the game could go in a totally different direction

Your selfish Wainwright lasted 4 innings and you are complaining about the other players?
HE is supposed to be your ace and threw 50 pitches in the first two innings. Mostly curveballs
because his fastballs cant get anyone out. Wainwright should have been shelved for the year.

Now down 1-0 all the pressure is on Lynn. If Matheny the weeny pitched him in game one it
would have actually been less stress. This series was lost by dumb decision making.

Why waste Lynn against a guy the Birds can't score on?

Waino definitely struggled but he gutted it out enough to have the game at 1-0 if the defense is playoff caliber. If the balk is called youneverknow what might have happened. Or the Cards could just score some runs! That game wasn't all on Waino by any stretch..
