How many times do you set a stoplight when the light turns green because the person in front of you is ON THEIR PHONE, not talking, just looking at crap on their phone? Happens to me all the time. I give them a short grace period before I honk the horn and bring thee back to the real world. I take a long walk early in the morning when the weather allows it and my path includes two of the busiest streets in town between 7 and 8 am. I've been doing this for several years when the weather permits and I wave at every car or truck I see and most wave back, some are even waving at me before I see I wave at them now. These I see some doing something on their phone and MANY others that wave at me have their phone in their hand while driving down the busy streets. They can't even put it down to drive to work! I mow my nieces yard just outside of town and the guy that mows the yard next to hers has a standup type zero turn mower and the other day he was doing something on his phone the whole time he was mowing that yard. Gotta give him credit to be able to that but it's sad that he can't mow a yard without doing it!

The electronics are a major issue among youth.

Boys are literally trapped in a world of games and they aren't going to just outgrow it.
Girls are in a similar predicament.

Our country will be ripe for the picking in 20 years.

I am sorry 3R but I don't think you are going to get the support you are looking for here. My guess is there are way too many of us that have this disease, and if we are honest, won't say anything about it.

I sincerely hope that you are wrong but... I agree.

The computing power between my fingers right now used to take up an entire floor in the data center I worked at in the early 80s.

The amount of information and disinformation we have at our fingertips is truly mind boggling. A lie can reach millions of Americans in a heart beat.

We haven’t seen shat yet. AI is going to destroy the world as we know it. We will reach a point where we cannot believe our own eyes any more.

I remember watching a movie or two, and maybe the Twilight Zone, about computers taking over the world. Pretty scary to see how close that is reality.

Remember the youth we were complaining about doing it 10 to 15 years ago, are now 28-33.
It's still not just the that age group that does this now. My wife is probably ruining her neck looking at crap on her phone all the time while she on the bed kinda watching TV. If anything happens around here she can tell me pretty quick what it was and who was involved just by checking on facebook. And people don't realize how much information they put out there about their own kids and family members.

What gets me is seeing folks pulling out of the driveway and immediately have the phone in their hand.

I don't look at technology with doom and gloom. The benefits from advancements in technology will far outweigh the potential dangers. The same debate has been going on for 80 years about nuclear power, as there will always be the potential of nuclear weapons. The bus has left the station in the computer age. There will be problems resulting from advancements we will have to overcome. But no one have dropped a nuclear bomb since we dropped two to end WWII.

Fingers tightly crossed...

They don't have to play on their phone while driving down the busy city streets or while waiting on the red light to turn green then do NOT go when it does. Talking on your phone is one thing, looking at it constantly and punching the buttons while driving is completely out of bounds!
