Home of the Cubs!!
Interesting the rioter says he believes he was doing what Trump was requesting...How many of these people will realize that They are facing years of jail time while Trump will still be free and go hmmm and start to go wait we believed this is what Trump wanted this is what we heard him request.

Jacob Chansley — who is known as the "QAnon shaman" for following the QAnon conspiracy theory and being photographed wearing a fur hat, face paint and holding a spear — has been charged with unlawful and violent entry of the Capitol building, as well as "active participation in an insurrection" to overthrow the US Government.

But his lawyer Albert Watkins told CNN Mr Chansley was not a violent person and should be pardoned as he felt "he was answering the call" of Mr Trump by entering the building.

"My client did not break into the Capitol, my client had the doors of the Capitol held for him by Capitol police," Mr Watkins said, adding Mr Trump invited him to enter the Capitol during his speech prior to the riot.

Mr Watkins said Mr Trump "needs to be accountable" for encouraging the rioters, "and the only honourable thing for him to do for those who were peace-loving, for those who did go there with peace in mind, who weren't going there to be violent" was to "own" those protesters and pardon them.

Funny to see all these tough guys starting to pucker up a bit. Love the shots of them yucking it up in the Capitol vs. the look on their face in their mug shots. My dad used to tell me "you $#!^ the bed, you have to deal with the smell the next day. However they punish these folks certainly sets a precedent going forward. Didn't someone once say "when the looting starts, the shoots starts"?

Funny thing is they probably thought they would be forgiven like all the protests from this summer.

You might want to get out of your mom and dads basement or just use google to learn that is not the case. There were over 200 arrest in connection to the protest in Seattle just like now, the police investigated and arrested them later.

Could you enlighten me as too how many of that 200 are currently incarcerated for their crimes? Or even facing criminal charges?

It is the double standard well honestly on both sides I cannot stand.
If anything we should have learned over the summer there is no such thing as a peaceful protest. The left supported protesters when on thier side now condemn them, the right said protesters were rioters and looters and now are bending over backwards to justify them. Hypocrisy to the left and right on full display.

Hey genius show me one protester this summer that had this motive.
'Strong evidence' shows rioters intended to 'capture and assassinate elected officials,' prosecutors say.

Wow this is even a more finger pointing story at Trump. The lawyer is basically saying that his Client believes Trump ordered them to storm the Capital. Love the lawyers quotes. So if more rioters say they believed that Trump told them to storm the Capital in the coming weeks does that change peoples opinion on Trump's motives at the rally?

The lawyer for the “QAnon shaman” who was part of the deadly siege of the Capitol last week publicly petitioned President Donald Trump on Thursday to pardon his client.
In an interview on CNN, attorney Albert Watkins said his client, Jacob Chansley, “felt like he was answering the call of our president” when he stormed the nation’s seat of government last Wednesday during a riot that resulted in the deaths of at least five people.

Chansley, a 33-year-old man from Phoenix also known as Jake Angeli, was one of the most recognizable perpetrators of the Capitol siege. He carried a spear, wore a furry horned headdress and painted his face in shades of red, white and blue.

On Tuesday, Chansley became one of the first three people indicted by federal prosecutors in connection with the violence at the Capitol. He was charged with a felony violation of the Federal Anti-Riot Act, as well as obstruction of Congress and other offenses.
In a filing on Thursday, prosecutors said Chansley was as “an active participant in” and “the most prominent symbol of” what they described as a “violent insurrection.” Prosecutors also said Chansley had expressed his intention of returning to Washington, D.C., for President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration next week.
The language in the filing suggests more severe charges, such as sedition or insurrection, could be coming for those involved in the siege.
Watkins, Chansley’s attorney, said on Thursday that his client, “like a lot of other disenfranchised people in our country, felt very, very, very solidly in sync” with the president — suggesting Chansley was incited to storm the Capitol in Trump’s name.
“He felt like his voice was, for the first time, being heard,” Watkins said. “And what ended up happening, over the course of the lead-up to the election, over the course of the period from the election to Jan. 6 — it was a driving force by a man he hung his hat on, he hitched his wagon to. He loved Trump. Every word, he listens to him.”
Prior to the Capitol siege, the president, his family members and his political allies riled up his supporters at a rally on the White House Ellipse. When it was his turn to speak, Trump urged those in attendance to march on the Capitol amid Congress’ certification of Biden’s Electoral College victory.

“If you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore,” Trump said. He also said that “you’ll never take back our country with weakness. You have to show strength, and you have to be strong.”
On Thursday, Trump became the only president in American history to be impeached twice — this time, in a bipartisan vote on a single count of “incitement of insurrection.”

“We all have to understand that the words that were spoken by the president meant something, not just to my client. They meant something to a lot of people,” Watkins said in his interview.
“They listened to those words. And those words meant something to them. And they had a right to rely on the words of their president that was strewed forth worldwide,” he said. “And they did. And now they’re turning around [and] they’re getting arrested, as well many should be.”
Nevertheless, Trump “needs to stand up and own these people,” Watkins argued. “He has an obligation to them. He has an obligation to our nation. It’s not going to happen.”
Pressed by host Chris Cuomo on what exactly he would like Trump to do, Watkins replied: “Oh, give a pardon.”
As Chansley’s attorney, “my role is not to judge somebody. My role is to be an advocate,” Watkins said. “If there’s one iota of a chance that the guy who’s the president of our country — who invited everybody down Pennsylvania [Avenue] — will give my client a pardon, you know what? I’m going to do it.”
Watkins acknowledged, however, that his plea was unlikely to succeed. “Am I holding my breath thinking that Donald Trump is going to be sitting around going, ‘You know what? … What’s the name of that guy with the horns? Yeah … let’s give him a pardon.’”
But “with Trump, you never know,” Watkins said. “He may say, ‘I want the guy with the horns.’ Next thing you know, maybe he’s represented by the shaman instead of Rudy Giuliani.”
Watkins went on to compare the president’s supporters who stormed the Capitol to the Jonestown cult members who committed mass suicide at their settlement in Guyana in 1978: “You know the only thing different here? There’s no Kool-Aid.”

This makes me sick! How did you formulate this gross opinion from? Most of the protesters from this past summer where charged with misdemeanors or in some cases even worse. I am completely appalled.

Wait until after Jan 20th to charge rioters with crimes. No Trump, no pardon!!
As crazy as it is he could pardon them all before he leaves office for any federal crimes and nothin anybody could do about it. They would still have to face all state and local charges, as will Trump after he is no longer president even IF he can pardon himself. Maybe he'll do that so they finally get that hashed out in the courts so there will be no doubt if a president can do that from now on. Hopefully we'll never have another one that needs to.

I haven't seen anymore, doesn't mean there weren't more. However no matter how people want to spin this it is clearly evident that most if not all the damage was done by true harden Trump supporters. There is overwhelming video evidence. What I like is the man with the horns now asking for a Pardon was first said to be a BLM supporter all over social media and many others ....we all know that is now false.

Thank you for your response and now making a good point. You are nothing more than a Liberal Donald Trump. Rather than dropping knowledge and making a valid informed opinion, you chose to insult and belittle someone you don't even know. When presented with a chance to enlighten and give more information you threw a tantrum, becoming even more insulting. This is a real shame; from your posts it seems as if you are an educated individual that chooses to be an online bully and agitator.

Wow, that is ridiculous. It's not his job to look up something you can do yourself. You asked a question why didn't you look it up?

Whatever, I gave you information about the arrest, if you want more go look it up it is not my job to do your homework. Honestly it wouldn't matter anyways because if you wanted to know the truth you would have already been seeking it out and looked it up. To be informed is to question what you are being told is the right answer and search out the truth no matter where it takes you, but you first must be willing to be open minded and accept the truth even if it is uncomfortable and not what you want to hear. A little bullit wisdom for you.

As for you calling me a Liberal LOL!!! That just tells me you haven't been on this board very long. I am no liberal but I am sure the conservatives would not claim me either.... Duck says I straddle the fence..... I think of it as more or less looking at the hypocrisy of both the Democratic and Republican party and those who support them no matter what, and sure I like to stire the pot, that is how you get people to question and hopefully seek out the answers.
I sort of think of Dems and Pubs as members of gangs both fighting for what they believe is right never accepting thier faults and always being the martyr. Sort of like when you posted

Oh and by the way....I voted for Trump, not proud of it, but I don't like Biden so I held my nose and cast my vote. However now that Biden will be the president I do hope he succeeds, not in pushing thru all liberal policies but I do hope he is able to lead this country our economy it is in all of our best interest....Because if he fails as a president then we all fail. That is something I don't get is why people hope that somebody in that position will fail, sure I get you don't agree with all policies totally understandable and just not to want them to succeed, But just because we don't get our guy I still want to win, I still want America to be great. Because failure shouldn't be the go to option when we don't, and in four years if things don't go good he will be up for election and as long as we the people don't destroy the Republic this great country will be around for a long time. I have grandkids now and I want it to be around for them, I don't want to see it destroyed....either by those who blindly follow Trump or Biden my hope is people will seek out the rightful answers and realize that is probable is in the middle....not in a party.

I was trying to seek out answers after my own research led me to believe that many of the Capitol rioters saw very mild punishments placed on rioters from this summer and believed they would get the same treatment. So I am confused no where in your comments do I see any reason for you to become insulting towards myself or my family. I asked you a simple question and you could not handle it without becoming insulting. Great you apparently have a lot of time to devote to research and appear to be somewhat open minded as well as articulate. Instead of being an online bully why not use those skills to inform and educate?

Just like the summer riots, there was a very dangerous element present at the Capitol whose sole purpose was to light the powder keg, and ignite the mob. Trump provided the fuse.

Agree 90% had no intention of violence and followed the mob across the barricades, and into the building. Just like the summer riots.

And agree 90% followed the crowd thinking they would have no repercussions. Just like the summer riots.

Finally, I've said from the start of the summer riots, bring in the National Guard, State Patrol, CIty Cops, and even the military if necessary. We need to change the law to allow specifically trained military to be used in case of emergency civil unrest and violence. We cannot allow criminals on to take over and burn businesses to the ground.

Well you are probable right I might have jumped to a conclusion a bit to early about where you were going, and threw out a brash comparison to who I thought you might support. However those on the right much like the left have started taking up refuges in their trenches and have started battling. And yes I did insult you I will apologize for, however now I didn't insult your family.

Now honestly the punishment for rioters in the summer versus rioters last week is going to be different, the issue is arson and vandalism versus trying to overthrow or interfere with a free election will carry different criminal charges and sentencing guidelines.

100% agree, I think people have the right to peacefully protest. They don't have the right to shut down business, roads, highways etc while doing it, Along with any vandalism that may occur with that. The issue is the laws and what is on the books and what prosecutors can charge rioters with. We need to look at that and strengthen those laws to promote peaceful protest and punish those who just want to be agitators.

ALL protests end at sunset.

Most peaceful protests in my lifetime have shut down street and roads They can't usually all walk on the sidewalk. Seems like I remember a bridge being pretty famous for being shut down during a peaceful protest.
I'll give em a street or two, I would have to draw the line at shutting down interstates or other major highways. That is beyond peaceful when you stop people going to and from work that have nothing to do with whatever you're protesting over, they just need to get where they're going.
