SEC Tournament-----March 11-15

Not much discussion on our men's basketball team this year. Our record is 8-6 and 0-2 in the league so far this season.

1. Can Missouri make the dance or the NIT this season?
2. How many total wins this season?
3. Will the recruiting pick for next year or the following year under coach Martin and his coaching staff?
Top players in St. Louis for 2020 and where they will enroll for the 2021 school year.

1. Caleb Love------------6'4"----------CBC----------North Carolina
2. Cam"Ron Fletcher---6'7"---------Vashon--------Kentucky
3. Luke Kasubke--------- 6'6"---------Chaminade---Kansas State
4. Ryan Kalkbrenner----7'0"---------Trinity----------Creighton
5. Davion Bradford------7'0"---------Mehlville------Kansas State

Other players from Missouri should be on the above list?

Mizzou has exactly one commitment from a 3-star C whose other offers were Jacksonville St and Southern Utah. There are five Rivals 150 players from Missouri (I think all from the STL area) and HCCM couldn't land any of them. I'd say there's a pretty serious problem developing in Columbia. Then again, if you only draw about 2500 per game, maybe nobody will notice the problem.

If Zo can't get the better players from StL then I'm not sure who can. They need to quit worrying about that area so much and just get better players from anywhere. People will notice if you win enough.

My biggest concern with CM is the top players probably aren't interested in his style of play. They want to show off for the next level. He wants to slow it down and muck it up playing half court defense. It's not all that appealing to me to watch and I wouldn't think it would be that appealing to a kid with NBA aspirations.

That's the thing, I'm not sure what he's done to make people think he can get the better players. His recruiting track record is probably average. His player development is not average. He doesn't really improve players or ready them for the NBA. His style of play certainly doesn't promote the NBA. And kids today don't care that he was an outstanding player in STL (and later Purdue) over 30 years ago. I'm a bit surprised at the lack of development. His players really don't seem to get all that better and are wildly inconsistent.

I am not sold on Kalkbrenner being able to perform at MU.
Not a Bradford fan either because he can not seem to find a steady place to land. No knock against him, just saying.
The other 3 could help Mizzou right now, but right now who would choose MU over NC or Kentucky? HCCM style of play will not bring the fans in until they consistently win games. And yes the attendance is about as poor as it can get. They need to have $1 beer night and bring in some fans!

Bradford's mother was 31 years old when she was killed in car wreck a couple of summers ago. Davion Bradford had no place to live when the Branson family from Mehlville took him in. Davion Bradford was the back up center from an AAU team from Kansas City who won a national championship. Davion is 6'11" tall and I believe he would have had a home @ Missouri but he selected Bruce Weber and Kansas State.

Missouri better get on the recruiting trail and get some SEC basketball players. Missouri is now starting two of Kim Anderson's old recruits ( Mitchel Smith and Nikko Reed ). These recruits were what got Kim Anderson fired @ Missouri along with low attendance.

Coach Martin has 5-6 players on the end of his bench who can never play @ Missouri or any SEC University. Martin needs to bring these players in and explain " You are not a D-1 basketball players " and your scholarship will not be renewed. I made my decision on playing time however Coach Martin may be keeping these players around for their grade point average.

1. Evan Yerkes
2.Brook Ford
3. Axel Okongo
4. Parker Braun
5. Morio McKinney Jr.

Bradford was ours if we wanted him. We pulled his offer when Wilmore committed. Was too late to the recruiting game for RK and put all our eggs in the Love/Fletcher basketball when we should of been on Luke more.

20Tiger20, I have tried to check out the "Long Shot " Jordan Wilmore 7'2", 275 LBS. from Baltimore, MD. I can not find a " Rival rank " on Jordan. I did find only 3 NCAA college teams made offers ( Jacksonville State, Southern Utah and Missouri. When comparing with our own Davion Bradford 7'0" from St. Louis, Missouri Coach Martin made a very interesting decision if Missouri had a chance @ Davion Bradford..

Davion Bradford had 17 D-1 schools with interest.

Offers according to Rival.

1. Kansas State
2 Arizona State
3. Illinois
4. Iowa
5. Missouri ( Visited Missouri on 9-13-19 ) You, 20Tiger20 stated Missouri pulled off when Jordan Wilmore committed.

After reading the above, Coach Martin must have seen something special that all " High School Rating services " missed.

Missouri played a great game last night against Florida. I'm very interesting to see what happens in Starkville on Tuesday evening ( Miss. State ). This will be a game of interest for me.

20Tiger20, How close are you to the Missouri program ? How do you rate Alex Okongo a seven foot recruit , a Missouri recruit for this season?

Went to the shootout at Highland Illinois yesterday. A great day of basketball. The matchup between Mehlville and Trinity showed the difference in the play. Bradford a lot bigger but I would call the matchup pretty even.

I was impressed with some of the other players. I had watched Vashon several times last couple of years and hadn’t seen much from Fletcher but yesterday he showed why he’s being recruited.

Mizzou has apparently offered kid from Chicago Simeon who looked decent. But there’s a far cry from him and several of the top recruits. All I heard when Martin was hired was what a great recruiter he was. And he may be. But I don’t see it yet. It’s going to take a big recruit or winning program to get other players to buy in.

From what I’ve heard, there’s not much difference between Wilmore and Bradford, one just happens to be in St Louis. Wilmore just picked up his third star from Rivals (If that matters). We were only going to take one of the two. Bradford spun his tires for too long and we took the commit from Wilmore. Coach Martin had been left at the altar multiple times in the past couple years (Second on Ramey, second on Love, second on Fletcher, etc), and that left him scrambling late. I wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t take a more hardline approach in some cases like this.

Okongo is nothing more than a practice big and possible defensive presence for a few mins during foul trouble/injuries. I was not happy with this pickup as I thought the scholarship should of been used for a grad transfer big that can actually play some minutes. Questionable move imo.

This team is made up of a bunch of good role/#2 type players and they’re missing that go to scorer. Insert Josh Christopher (probably a dream also) next year and you have a team that can make a run.

Thanks for the information on Josh Christopher ( Rival # 12 ) After reading up on Josh Christopher, The competition will be tough for Missouri after looking @ the attendance, Missouri's record and Missouri's recruiting over the past two season. Josh will have no problem with playing time wherever he enrolls.

Missouri will need another big and a competing big man is hard to find. I think Missouri missed on Bradford who is from Missouri. Coach Martin told the Missouri fans he would bring in talent from the state of Missouri and the East St. Louis area. That has not happened to date and Martin has had three recruiting years.

20Tiger20, I hope you will continue posting on MoSports concerning Missouri Tiger basketball. My friends in Columbia or not happy about recruiting competing SEC players, Attendance, low scoring games and winning.

Positives for Christopher are:
1. His cousin (Nicodemus Christopher) has been our strength coach for 3 years
2. We've been on him hard since his soph year. He visited last year as a Jr and is planning on another official visit this season. It appears him and Coach martin have a good relationship.
3. He would have full reigns to the offense and is the key guy we are missing

Negatives:
1. He's a Cali kid and Cali kids don't come to Missouri often
2. Arizona State signed his brother last year to try to make a play for Josh
3. He's a top 15 kid and top 15 kids don't come to Mizzou unless their dad is on staff
4. Michigan is starting to make headway on him

Coach Martin told the Missouri fans he would bring in talent from the state of Missouri and the East St. Louis area. That has not happened to date and Martin has had three recruiting years.
Tilmon, Pickett, Watson, Mark Smith, McKinney. That's 5 kids from St Louis or surrounding area. Two were top 55 recruits and two were top 150 recruits. You can make the argument he isn't getting the truly elite guys from St Louis, but he's definitely bringing in St Louis kids as 38% of the scholarship roster is from that area.

I agree with your friends. The offense is brutal to watch (besides last game), attendance has been bad (Maybe that will pick back up when school is back in session?), and this team has definitely under performed this year as I believe we should have 2-3 more wins at this point.

I can not place a defense against the above post however if you are a top 20 player ( Rival ) in the country, would you enroll @ Missouri? I sure your answer is no if I read your honest appraisal of the Missouri roster.

I will be @ the St. Charles West @ Pacific high school game on Tuesday evening however I will have interest in the Missouri game in Starkville, Miss.
