former Springfield HS player appealing eligibility at Liberty HS

They keep omitting the real reason it got denied.

Rue and another Central starter (Pittman) attempted to go to Parkview this year. Even had meetings with PV athletic Director and principal. (Parkview principal and Central principal are married. Not necessarily important here, but interesting.) They were told “no” because they hadn’t moved. There was no bullying claim. Just wanted to get away from that team. Pittman went back to Central. Rue decided to move. But only him. They were mistakenly told that as long as someone else had guardianship that MSHSAA would allow it. Claiming unsafe environment, but only moving schools 4 miles away, is a little suspect. Thinking that the most popular athlete on campus is being bullied is suspect.

The lesson here? Dont make plans publicly, or send emails, or text messages, indicating you’re going to try to circumvent the rules. Just quietly go about it.

It’s a stupid ruling. Kids should be able to do this. Coaches can leave for a better opportunity whenever they want.

You want kids to move every year? You want legalized high school recruiting? Look at college right now. It's awful. Making that the high school scene would be awful for sports. At some point, there needs to be accountability for kids. Pack up and leave when things don't go your way? Woof

Its not free agency. Its supposed to be public schools. Not sure about this case. But talking about coaches being able to leave has nothing to do with students. Look what a similar stance has done to college football.

There's some irony in an SPS employee having an issue with a transfer.

Right. Public schools. If you MOVE into another district, there’s no reason to not allow you to play. It’s asinine. Who cares why. Or, you’re still working the same job as always, right? Never left for a better opportunity?

You're right, but it's sad to see the transfers (specifically in SPS) that get allowed versus the ones that don't. If you're trying to get a brown and yellow jersey, it's perfectly fine.

Anybody else? pffffffft.

While I SOMEWHAT agree...dude...two words. Trey. Starks. Granted, was forever ago. But still. That's just solid proof SPS is an absolute cesspool when it comes to stuff like this.

Edit to include Ty Freeman as well.

Ok, what about Haney and Brazile? Christian Kirk? Rylee Tan? They are notorious for this stuff. They aren't alone, but they are the most egregious.

SPS has to get a handle on transfers and the consistency involving them.

From reading about this case it doesn't appear that Central or SPS has offered any resistance to his move unless I am missing something. Just a MSHSAA decision. Kirk kid that moved from Kickapoo to St Louis area and back to Kickapoo was ineligible for his senior season at Kickapoo.

Tan has always lived in Poo district. Should’ve never been at Republic.

SPS didn’t say no. Parkview did. We all know if they’d chosen Kickapoo the AD there would’ve had them in a jersey by 3pm.

Dude, I said I agreed. But Poo isn't the only one. Whole place is a cesspool. Poo just has more money and resource than anyone else. When Schaeffer was at Hillcrest and Cornish was at Parkview they both had enough connections to make some magic happen.

Deny No Way GIF

Should play him anyway, take the L’s and then try to make a run without him as an 8 seed in districts.

Coaches can't leave whenever they want, they got a year contract. Now a school can pull that contract anytime they want. Its skewed to the schools. Schools are finding out that crap will hurt them.
