Dumbass conservatives: the government sucks and doesn't help the average joe!
Gov't: hey we're gonna help our country with wildly popular policies that benefit most of the population
Dumbass conservatives: eww no, not like that! Mister Trump says that's SOCIALISM.
Your answer is turn to a man who has been in government for 50 years proclaiming that he will change the government.Yes... I am aware of what a straw man is....
How do you think the Biden administration will "enlarge" the government? The right people, to me, are people who truly have the populist interest in mind, no matter the ideology. Do I have faith we will elect the "right people" in the next decade? Hell no. In my opinion, the Republican and majority of the Democratic party are largely the same: Corporatist vehicles. This pandemic has proven this. When push comes to shove.... the health and economic wellbeing of the average American isn't a big consideration. In my opinion, this is because of our ultra-capitalist culture.
Do I have all of the answers? Hell no, but I also am not running for office.
Give me one example of socialism that has worked... (we both know that Scandinavia doesn't count as true socialism, and they are also homogenous in thought, culture, and race, which we are not)

Sorry Bernie Bros But Nordic Countries Are Not Socialist
As much as liberals like to use Nordic countries as examples that socialism and successful societies can co-exist, the reality is that these countries are not socialist, or even farther along the spectrum toward socialism than most other developed countries.www.forbes.com
The world still waits for one that works...
The problem with both socialism/communism and capitalism is this: People are evil, greedy, and corrupt--this is the downfall of both systems. One system gives power to a few individuals to decide what is good for everyone, the other allows individual freedom and largely (not perfectly) equal opportunity for others to succeed.
The solution isn't to scrap capitalism in favor of letting a couple people decide "what is best" for everyone. individual Freedom and responsibility is always better.
You might consider reading up on forms of government. And maybe not just from American sources. Your understanding of socialism is predictably incomplete.
