A little bird told me that there aren't many tuition-paying students left and the diocese is struggling to justify paying all these players to play there.

Any StL guys hear anything?

I heard The Illuminati just cut every private school in STL a fat check. So I doubt Trinity is going to have any trouble making ends meet. They’re also genetically engineering kids by putting synthetic hormones into Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, provel cheese and Vess soda. Combine that with the obvious conspiracy by MSHSAA to screw over salt-of-the-Earth country folk, and I predict Trinity will beat Alabama for The National Championship this year!

Flamin Hot Cheetos and Vess have the synthetic hormones? That explains why I'm still such a stellar athlete...

Vess soda doesn't need synthetic hormones.... It's mere awesomeness produces uncommon athletic ability... Why you gotta keep that stuff all to yourself, St. Louis?

Ask yourself why it is that you assume kids at Trinity playing football require tuition assistance.

Here, I'll cut through all your subtle BS, all the white folks on here are racist (which is obviously why we're so fixated on predominantly black schools right?) and don't believe black folks can afford private school and can only get there through athletic achievement.

Is that what you're getting at? If so why bother with all the PC mind game BS. If you've got something to say, be a man and say it.

Right. I’m sure it’s an complete coincidence that the only schools being bitched about, accused of “cherry picking” kids, “luring” families (as if that is even a thing), and cheating MSHSAA’s rules are Lutheran North, Trinity and Ritter.

Show me threads where you went at CBC, Vianney, SLUH, DeSmet, JBS, Westminster Christian, Borgia, MICDS, Duchesne and St. Mary’s for the same things ... and shut me up.

You’re an absolutist on what walks/talks/ and looks like a duck ... and now you’re quacking.

I’m hoping FB can educate us on the difference between urban poverty and rural (his favorite word) poverty. Poor is poor!

Just because Trinity is in North STL County and has an all-Black football roster (at a school whose student body is 50% white) doesn’t mean the black families that attend it can’t afford it.

If SWMO isn’t a rural community, then what part of Missouri is? What term would you prefer I use to describe tiny, agricultural communities?

Hmm could it be because all those other schools play teams with enrollments big enough to compete with them come playoff time?

People make threads about all-white Valle having unfair advantages all the time due to playing hugely overmatched small enrollment teams (you know, the only real argument that's being made against any of these teams). The only reason the schools you bring up are mentioned is because they magically get 5-6 impact transfers a year who are also magically able to compete at the varsity level right away despite transfer rules MSHSAA should be enforcing.

You want to play a victim or subtly pull the race card constantly, I mean, that's your prerogative, but it doesn't invalidate anything that's been said, it's just the last resort of losing an argument. That strategy doesn't and never should have worked.

That might be the most concise and valid explanation I've seen on this subject. well done!

Ahhh, yes. I was wondering who’d be the first to fire off a “playing the race card” shot. When you rushed to defend my comment toward why SWMO small school homers obsess with LN, CR and Trinity while ignoring every other private program in STL, I should’ve known you’d come with a “race card” something or other.

I’m white ... and I doubt you pull “race card” jabs in attempts at self-defense when addressing other white folks, so I’m gonna leave it to you to stumble over yourself about why you were sure that I was black. I’m sure it’s for the same reasons white folks assume black families can’t afford private school tuition and that the archdiocese is going bankrupt giving them money.

Here’s the thing about your above excuse. People DON’T make threads about Valle “all the time”. Feel free to go back and look for them, because I just did. Comments that ARE made about predominantly white private schools or teams don’t live long and they don’t drift toward persistent unfounded claims of cheating, the families of those mostly white teams not being able to afford tuition, that their MUST be a program to “cherry pick” and only admit kids with athletic ability, or any number of regular shots you keep clinging to.

I don’t know what arguments you think you’re winning. Kids continue to enroll at LN, CR and Trinity and kids continue to transfer in ... being completely fine with sitting a year when necessary, or playing immediately when waivers are granted. Calling you out isn’t expected to change your mind or convince you. Your beliefs about cheating are t based on facts. What IS factual is that you don’t like that those programs have attracted talent and developed them into becoming dominant programs. You don’t bitch about the predominantly white private programs and you don’t rage at MSHSAA for screwing public schools over ... and MSHSAA sets the rules.

Nope. You bitch about and imagine 3 schools with predominantly black football rosters are cheating ... then you hide your hand after you throw the rock and pretend other white folks won’t call you out when you do it. Now THAT’S a “race card” you don’t mind playing.

You're awfully sensitive if you think anything I've done is "bitching".

It doesn't matter what race you are, trying to play the subtle "that's racist" or "you're racist" if you disagree with me crap is played out. That's stuff people do to try to shut down a conversation. Do it all you want, it doesn't invalidate anything that's been said.

And you’re awfully sensitive if you take offense to comments I make toward someone else, if you didn’t think that they addressed how you really feel.

MSHSAA’s rules are what they are. I’d LOVE for them to change. For private schools to split into their own divisions. For public schools to go to open enrollment like Arizona does. For schools that reach a level of dominance in their classification to be able to move up by choice. For schools that are extraordinarily dominant to be mandatorily moved up.

And no one mentioned race but FB on this thread. My problem is I don’t have time to read his Tom Clancy reply.

I sure did. Let’s not pretend that not saying something openly means it has no connection to race. Were any of those schools to have all-white rosters, you’d complain about the imbalances of privates vs public schools, but you wouldn’t be accusing them of giving away athletic scholarships or outright cheating. If my comments didn’t hit close to the mark on how you feel, then you wouldn’t be defensive or offended about it. It’s odd that mentioning the obvious variable of race on this subject makes you so uncomfortable ... if it wasn’t true.

I’m not uncomfortable with the subject. Talk about race all you want.

I’d rather talk football ... and I’m fine with people feeling it’s ludicrous for tiny programs to play private powerhouses with huge kids.

I’m NOT cool with low key, subliminal jabs with stereotypes about schools just because the rosters are almost all black. I won’t change anyone’s minds ... but I also won’t hesitate to call it out when it happens. There’s no white person here that can say they don’t hear foul racist shit when we’re the only people in the room.

if you own a color tv you're more than likely not racist....as my astute co worker would say.

Over the years there has been threads out the wazzou about Rockhurst and Valley. It got very old . They both have mostly white players ....it has zero to do with race. It had more to do with Rockhurst pulling from two states .....Bishop Miege has out performed them recently so that calmed down ......Valle was because they are a class 1 school pulling from a (to class 1 standards ...) A huge population/talent pool ....they also havent been as dominate recently so that subsided as well . People hate private schools that win alot ....that's all it boils down to . Side note ....with the rule changes in 2020 ...Helias Catholic in class 3 should be a state title contender every year

I was the first to call Trinity out on this board 4 years ago. IMO it's never been about race but statistics. The concentration of so much talent at a small school was created by one coach that did some dirty things (active recruiting/shopping his coaching services). Other small private schools now have morphed in that model by not want that coach did but because kids/parents want to go there/send their kids there to achieve the same success. (passive recruiting) Fact is that happens all over the state Public and Private/white and black. I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH ANY CURRENT SCHOOLS/COACHES AT ALL.

Unethical things former Trinity coach did.
1. He shopped his coaching services around to multiple schools saying he could bring a group of kids that could bring winning to the school.
2. Wanting control of what scholarships/financial assistance could be offered to his athletes (not the school administration making the determination) Think many schools passed on this and that's why he ended back at Trinity where he was a previous assistant coach.
3. Telling parents to take out loans to pay for tuition to go to Trinity. Hyping up kids that they could get full ride college offers and eventually be playing on Sundays. Very few if any will make it that far.

4 years ago I called Trinity and asked what scholarships and financial assistance they had for students wanting to attend. It was limited but they also gave me a list of banks/financial instructions where you could apply to borrow money to go there.

While I don't like what that coach did I have no ill will with students trying to improve their lives by getting a athletic scholarship to a university to get an education.

Rant over. Blast away.

I can personally tell you that those accusations were most definitely made of Valle for quite awhile on this board. Has been made more than just a handful of times over the years, but you weren’t present for any of those forum discussions, hence why you deny that it ever happened.
Wait, did I say Valle? Maybe I should clarify for you and your race-mindedness. Those very accusations were also made about an ALL-WHITE private school multiple times.

Awaiting the response of someone in denial in 3.... 2... 1.....

You have just lost any credibility you might have had. Ask the Valle folks what they think of that statement.
Of all the people on here there has been NO ONE more vocal about them than Veer. Racism is in no way the problem and other than you no one thinks it is even a factor!

You have just lost any credibility you might have had.
He never had any.

Those of us that have been around here a good long while know all about the many, many Rock, Valle, and Borgia (on the hoops board) threads about this very same thing. Dude is trying to be a shock jock on a HS message board. Most have the common sense not to engage him.
