Thought on Missouri postseason, thoughts?

Hartville basketball coach calls for Missouri playoff changes ahead of No. 1 vs 2 sectional

The No. 1 and 2 teams in the state will play in a Class 2 sectional instead of a state championship. Hartville's coach would like to see a new format.

Came across this on Twitter. Personally I love the idea of reseeding for playoffs and think it should be applied to all sports if applicable.

That is my point. Use the same thing for state playoffs. All the playoff teams meet the day after districts are complete and set the bracket. Make the coaches responsible.

Football would be even simpler. Continue the point system through districts.

You honestly think all those coaches are unaware and lack all knowledge of the other teams in their class?
You have a better idea or do you just oppose everything?
You seem like one of those “if we can’t help everyone, we will help no one” kinda people.

Mshsaa gets it right as far as determining who the best is. However it doesn’t get it right in rewarding the best teams/individuals. Imagine working your ass off, being one of the top teams in the state and then being in the same district with one of the top teams in the state. If slight tweaks go be made to prevent that, why wouldn’t you? Because it’s not perfect? Nothing will ever be perfect but that doesn’t mean you stop seeking ways to improve.

We do have the technology to not have to be physically together to be able to meet.

Don't give play up points. Just use the numbers as is. The SOS stuff works itself out.

MSHSAA is the only group that can make the change.

I'm not sure you can objectively seed 16 teams from all over the state, but I think there can be a happy medium and reseed the quarterfinal amongst the 4 sectional teams, who by definition should be more closely aligned and have a higher chance of common opponents etc in which to seed.

Also in my perfect world go back to the neutral sites - but instead of needing 3 sites per quad (2 sectionals and the qtr) make it one site played on Fri and Sat.
