This is the thread where Joey can post all this evidence he has of Lamar fans whining...

Man, you guys that are used to winning and then lose, are so easy to tweak.
I was in the north end zone. Yes we gave the "officials" an ear full after the questionable kickoff/out of bounds call and personal foul call in the fourth. Never did I hear negative word towards a Lathrop fan. Never did I hear the refs cost us the game. Pretty simple really....Lathrop had our number on Saturday and they are playing for a championship and we are not. We have moved on as should you.

On the kickoff/out of bounds rule. If you aren't required to have possession, what is keeping the player from knocking all balls close to the boundary out bounds and getting the ball at the 35?

So they guy looking over from the Lamar group making gestures and taunting, was just a guy in red with a Lamar hat--not really from Lamar though, that just happened to want to screw with Lathrop fans? Okay.

Where did you sit? I was at the South End, just East of the scoreboard. Lamar fans were: just fine except one. Several lost it on the kickoff-out of bounds. Then someone else said, "by rule he never had possession so it is the same as kicked out of bounds" and those around him were like, "dumb rule but OK". Oh but that one guy was an ars. "rip there heads off", "Refs cost us the game".
EVERY school has a few of those.
The drunk uncle, the Uncle Rico dad, and a few 'Carthage Moms'.
LOL.
I was probably guilty of this a time or two myself when my kids were in school.
Sometimes these fans are just arses and sometimes they just care a lot and let emotion get control.
I would certainly not judge any towns fan base on this alone.
I also agree that you'd be better off judging these scenarios by how folks act BEFORE and AFTER the win or loss.
The VAST majority of what I've seen and heard in SWMO the past few days has been positive. Both about our local teams AND the teams who eliminated them.
Nobody's perfect and we could all strive to be better.

I'm wondering if the refs got it right. I asked a MSHSAA white hat that was reffing one of the semi-final games where the ball should be placed and he said where it went out of bounds.

The NFHS Football rule book says...
ART. 10 . . . If a free kick goes out of bounds between the goal lines
touched inbounds by R (receiving team), the ball is put in play by R at the inbounds spot.

This is from a high school football reffing website where situations can be discussed by refs...
"Since the receiver touched the kick with the ball INSIDE THE SIDELINE PLANE he is considered to have caused the ball to be out of bounds. The ball will be put in play at the inbounds spot..."

I'm not sure exactly what the rule is so would anyone that actually knows care to comment?
For what it's worth? I also did some asking around and was told the ball was mis-spotted. Rule was right --- and odd --- but they did get the spot wrong.

You just make crap up, none of which I said.
And you acting like most of these kids arent getting financial assistance is laughable.
Many times the school wont give the financial help but a benefactor will provide the assistance.

I wont be commenting on your nonsense any more. You are clueless about education and coaching. You are now on ignore.

The difference in this 28-21 game was the blocked punt that was returned for a touchdown.

I would say that the 2nd late hit penalty was a pretty devastating blow that gave Lathrop a fairly easy field into the end zone. I was standing close to the Lathrop coaches in the loft and they were complaining about that penalty against Lamar, yelling "That's bs". They were saying that they didn't want to win on a highly questionable call where the defender was engaged with the runner inbounds and went to the ground out of bounds.

With that Lathrop was a class act from the fans to the coaches. Some fans started singing, "naa naa naa naa hey hey goodbye" and others quieted them pretty quickly. Super nice people. Hope Lathrop wins state even though I think it'll take a couple steps above their best game performance.

I was told that that fan was someone called Joey. He dressed up as a Lamar fan. The crowd was full of Mule fans but, Joey was the only jackass.

Just my guess but the Lamar guy must have thought one of the Lathrop people was you !!

PapaT23 I posted my reply before I scrolled to the bottom to see your reply ! 2 votes for - none opposed our same thought - makes it unanimous !!!

What is with these calls? The one on the Lamar side was a clear out of bounds hit...

The one in the 4th quarter was just a BAD call. They are too hyper about making "safety calls." That effectively ended the game, after Lathrop went another 15-20 yards and punched it in.

Lathrop returner muffed his attempt to catch. ? I guess it can be a muff on a Kickoff?

We had a kickoff nick the heel of an upback who was trying to avoid it. It went straight out of bounds at the 18 so that is where the ball was placed. If you touch it you dont get the ball at the 35.

Man Lamar Tiger fans...don't you know I love to kick you when you are down? "Lighten up, Francis!'
I think you may be a little more emotionally invested than most Lamar fans. 7 consecutive State Championships and 10 consecutive Semi appearances, not to mention it is HIGH SCHOOL football being played by 15, 16, and 17 yr old kids. No one in Lamar is losing much sleep over the football team. Just a heads up, next year may not turn out much better but don't worry we have some really strong classes that are getting ready to come through. And yes Lamar has a couple stupid fans, if that makes us classless then I think it would be safe to say every town in Mo is classless.

Oh, I've been to youth games with more jerks than the entire Lamar group had. Although there were a good 5-10 that are full blown POS... I just like to poke the entitled when they get too cocky and take it for granted that they are just better.

Hey Top, you didn't happen to come up to the press box did you with a boy? There was a K fan that came up in the press box.

Lathrop fans and people in the press box were nothing but class! Had some great conversations with #2's Dad and a few fans afterwards! Very nice facilities! Best of luck Lathrop!

I was at this game yesterday. A couple of questionable calls that Lamar fans rightly booed but saw nothing but respect and sportsmanship from both sides. On top of that it was an amazing game..............

No I stayed at the top row far south home side. I do know a number of Kearney folks did attend the game wearing their gear. That was my first time at Lathrop's new facility and agree it is very, very nice!

Entitled? I assure you no one from Lamar thinks anyone is going to lay down and let them win because of a record, a streak, a mystique, or any other word you want to use to describe that program. In fact, the opposite is true. Lamar is a key target of every opponent they face, some just a measuring stick for their own success, and some as the ultimate chance to validate themselves. I heard it said that Chris Holt has game planned for Lamar hard for several seasons, just waiting for their chance while also building their own program. Kudos to them! What is apparent recently is that opposing strategies are working, and there is a lot more effort from EVERY opponent, even if it subsides early. If you watched that game Saturday, you witnessed a level of play from both teams that is seldom seen in class 2. Lamar's success has improved their conference, and the overall level of play of the top end of class 2. There are areas that need to improve in the Lamar program to continue their success, and everyone involved knows that, but you are sadly mistaken if you think entitlement is one of them.

A lot of your skill kids next year could be freshman, that class (8th grade now) is LOADED!!

Slim, maybe 6', maybe mid to late 30s!
That's Joey's stats. Slim. HIV gaunt. Yellow dentures. He wears a volunteer fire department hat to home games. A 90-pound weakling. Did he show you his "Mom tattoo"? Wear gloves next time.

Yeah that class has a chance to be really special. Fortunately they have some talent in classes around them. This years freshman were low on numbers but there are some really good ones in that class to. If they continue to progress they will be fun to watch.
