New York is cutting 1 billion from its police budget. And LA is cutting 145 million from its police budget.

NYC has a $6 billion police budget, the highest in the world, and are "proposing" to trim $1 billion. NYC has lost over $9 billion in revenues from the first 3 months of covid, and like every city and local government, NYC is facing a financial cuts across the board for the 2021 budget. The proposal states that the police force will be trimmed only by attrition from retirement. NYC will still have a full police force.
That's the facts - call it "Defunding the Police" if you want - but budget cuts are coming to every city and local gov agency.
