7.23 Licking Camps VB in Rolla at the centre. I drove to see the v/jv teams where I will be teaching this year. Their first games began around 11:30 a.m. Once the first match was over, I moved to watch the remainder of the jv match before their next game. Before that game started the varsity head coach gathered the parents and took them outside, varsity players followed then junior varsity left along with the 200 or so gathered in the facility. The lower portion where the three courts are was cleared in less than 20 minutes per order of the Phelps - Maries County Health Department.
I was informed by a coach of one of the participating teams, the reason for the abrupt cancellation was a student who played (vb) last weekend had contracted COVID19. Student's team call them teamA played teamB last weekend. TeamB is/was participating in this camp, as a result the camp was cancelled. TeamA was not on the schedule for the camp this week.
Of those in attendance, I saw less than 10 wearing face coverings. Glad I had mine on.
