Coach Palmeiro, who was the head man at Tarkio for 28 years, from the late 60s to the mid 90s, has passed away.
In his tenure leading the Indians he had a record of 204-56-5
Led Tarkio to a state title in 1971 and runner up finishes in 91 & 95(pretty sure they faced off with Valle during one, if not both of those years)
The football stadium in Tarkio was named in his honor years ago.
Palmeiro is also a member of the Tarkio College Athletic Hall of Fame.
Probably would have had a lot more state championship appearances if not for the cross county rivals the Rock Port Bluejays, there were a number of years where both of those teams were a top 5 team in the state in the same year.
