We didn’t need a tax break. The economy was booming. Even some GOPers said it was a bad idea. It was a bad idea at the wrong time.

So to make a tax break that we all ready get your answer is it is a bad idea to make it permanent and not temporary what? You take your spin lessons from Trump.

Consumer Fuel Price Gouging Prevention Act

This bill prohibits any person from selling, during a proclaimed energy emergency, a consumer fuel at a price that (1) is unconscionably excessive, and (2) indicates that the seller is exploiting the emergency to increase prices unreasonably. The President may issue a proclamation of such an emergency that specifies the consumer fuel and geographic area covered and how long the proclamation applies.

They tried to pass it as a stand alone bill. It passed in the house but the senate repubs nixed it. So they included it in the big bill for Medicare only.

This one pisses me off!!! I paid off $50K in student loans and it took many years to do it. Like so many others with student loan debt in the past, I had to do without driving a brand new car, buying a nice big modern house in the newest subdivision, no vacations to exotic locations, and none of the luxuries and recreational toys that the "entitled generation" think they are owed. And now I have to help pay off their student loans so their lives are easier!! And most of these kids will come out of college making more money than I ever dreamed about when I was their age. We continue to spoil an entire generation. I wanna SCREAM!!!!!!!!!

I am as liberal as anyone, but tend to agree with you on this. This doesn't do anything to help kids in the future with escalating education costs.
On a personal note, I had VA benefits based on military service. They paid about $200 a month for full time.
I was married with a wife and 2 kids so I also worked full time. Company benefit paid 100% for books and tuition so I basically pocketed the va money for a house, Graduated 5.5 years later from UMSL after fulltime year round school at UMSL. I think tuition at that time was about $225 a semester. Not sure what it is today but I know the granddaughter had some really nice scholarships to Mizzou.

Sometimes I think why even care about our national debt. I'm probably not going to be around when the bill comes past due. Seems like adding a couple trillion never seems to bother Washington politicians.

We just print our way out of every problem.
How our dollars have any value at all is a shell game. Banks are in danger? Just start printing money baby! Pandemic? Print some damn money!! It’s all a game of make believe.

How else can we loan millions for PPP and then say, awwww don’t worry about paying it back! We won’t have to pay back the US debt. Our dollars will just be worthless.

Yeah, I'm not an economist by any means, but I do wonder if one day the bottom is going to drop out because of debt.
